Why Still Detain Nnamdi Kanu In DSS Cell? Umeh Asks Tinubu

The Senator Representing Anambra Central at the red chamber, Chief Victor Umeh has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release and pardon Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Chief Umeh made the call during the visit of the President to Anambra State.

The Senator pointed out that Mr. Kanu’s case is similar to that of Omoyele Sowore and Sunday Igboho, who were pardoned and set free by the Nigerian government, and wondered why Nnamdi Kanu is being treated differently.

The federal lawmaker noted that Nnamdi Kanu is not guilty as charged, describing him as a freedom fighter advocating for the well-being of his people.

He added that releasing Nnamdi Kanu would be a genuine step toward demonstrating to the Igbo people that Nigeria is one and united country.

Angel Network News (ANN) recall that Nnamdi Kanu has been in the custody of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) since June 27, 2021, when he was arrested in Kenya and extradited to Nigeria to face charges including terrorism and treasonable felony.
