# The Akpoazaa Foundation, says investment in education is a strategic means of securing long-term prosperity for future generations.
The Foundation’s Chairman and CEO, Best Brain Contest, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, stated this during an Interdepartmental Quiz Competition organized by the foundation in collaboration with the Student Union Government of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam Campus.
Dr. Igbojindu further reiterated the foundation’s commitment to educational advancement. He highlighted a recent initiative, where the best graduating students from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, were awarded ₦500,000 each along with automatic employment opportunities.
# The Civil Society Organizations Community of Practice (COP), Anambra state Chapter has appealed to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to introduce flexible support mechanisms, including wavers for community based Civil Society Organizations in Anambra state.
The COP supported by Global Rights, made the appeal during an advocacy visit to the CAC management in Awka.
Led by one of its Steering Committee member, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, of the JONAPWD, Anambra State chapter, the COP said the visit was keep the Commission abreast of its activities.
# The chairperson of Universal Basic Education board in Anambra State, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, has praised the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for the payment of its three years arears of matching grants owed by previous administration.
Nwadinobi disclosed this to newsmen in a midterm report of the implementation of the 2019 to 2021 UBE projects in the State.
She noted that for Anambra to meet the requirements for accessing the 2022, 2023, and 2024 UBEC matching grants, it was necessary for the State to clear its backlog of 2019 to 2021, which Governor Soludo graciously approved and paid.
# Kimpact Development Initiative, a non-governmental organization, has unveiled a web platform, NaijaElections, to help curb misinformation and voter apathy during Anambra governorship election.
The App was unveiled at a programme tagged: “Naija Elections Awka DemTalks Youth Outreach,” held in Awka, the state capital.
Executive Director of KDI, Mr Bukola Idowu, who performed the unveiling, described the app as an AI-powered electoral platform that is built to transform how young Nigerians engage with the democratic process.
# The lawmaker representing Njikoka two Constituency, Hon. Jude Akpua has led Prof. Phil Eze, Managing Director of the Anambra State Erosion Watershed and Climate Change Agency (ANSEWCCA), to the severely damaged gully erosion site at Umugama can Ire Village in Abba Community.
Hon. Akpua who is the Deputy Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, said the site visit aimed to bring government attention to the ongoing erosion crisis, which has continued to threaten lives, homes, and livelihoods in the area.
The lawmaker expressed deep concern and called on the state government, under the capable leadership of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, to urgently intervene. He emphasized that climate-related challenges require immediate, strategic responses to prevent further loss of life and property.
Speaking, Hon. J.C. Okeke Nwaka, Special Adviser to the Mayor of Njikoka LGA, described the situation as dire. He highlighted that several family homes belonging to the Ekegboo Emelife, Obaeche Otikpa Emelife, Okafor Chidiofu, Ifeanyi Ikenga, Obiefuna, Chinweze Obaba popular shop, Emma Okoye Mgba, and Fidelis Okoye Mgba families have been completely washed away.
# Anambra State Government in view of the security crisis steaming from Nimo Town as a result of two parties laying claim to the leadership of Nimo Town Development Union (NTDU) has desolved
the administration led by Engr. Dan Zeelunjo Anakpe.
To avoid vacuum and ensure the smooth administration of the community as well as pave way for a new leadership structure, the State Government appointed an interim committee for a period of three months.
The interim committee are; Sir Fredrick Obodoeze (Chairman). Mr. Ike Anthony Okoye (Vice Chairman), Mr, Patrick Ugwu (Secretary), Engr. Ikenna Okwonkwo (Member), Engr. Ifeanyi Anyaegbu (Member), Mr. Uche Mbekwe (Member), Mr. Uche Ayagwu (Member), Mr Patrick Isiogu (Member), Mr. Linus Nwaokonkwo (Member), Mr. Tochukwu Emesile (Member) and Mr. Sunday Obananya (Member).
Considering the resolution from the meetings involving the two faction with Njikoka Local government Mayor, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, the Commissioner for local government and Town Union matters and considering the interest of maintaining peace within the community, the interim committee was inaugurated.
# The Commissioner of Police CP. Ikioye Orutugu leds a high-powered investigation team comprising operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Tactical Teams and Operations Department of the Command on a spot assessment at the crime scene in Oko, Orumba North Local Government where two people were murdered and two others abducted.
Two individuals, including a lady are also receiving treatment in the hospital.
During the visit, the CP interacted with the Local Government Chairman and some Stakeholders in the area and sought greater cooperation among residents/Community members, as well as students in exposing the criminals in the area.
In their response, the Orumba North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Casmir Nwafor with some stakeholders in attendance including the leadership of Oko Polytechnic Students Union pledged to collaborate with the Police and other security agencies, indicating a willingness to Provide intelligence and insights to help identify and apprehend perpetrators.
They pledged to assist the Police in gathering evidence and piecing together the events surrounding the incident and
also work together to implement security measures and prevent future incidents.
# The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Sir Paul Chukwuma has donated a brand new ambulance to the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government, Anambra State.
Chukwuma who was represented by the Deputy Governorship candidate of YPP, Chief. Uzu Okagbue while speaking during the presentation of the ambulance during 2025 World Sickle Cell day, prayed God to grant the souls of the faithful departed.
The Sickle Cell Awareness Day is a day set aside by the United Nations to raise global awareness about sickle cell disease and its impact, especially in countries with weak healthcare systems.
Speaking during the visit to the Agulu Sickle Cell Home, Chief Uzu Okagbue recounted how Sir Paul Chukwuma and himself suffered personal losses to Sickle Cell Anaemia.
# Valentine Ozigbo, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged the outcome of the party’s primary election in Anambra state.
Ozigbo approached the Federal High Court in Awka to seek the disqualification of Nicholas Ukachukwu, the party’s declared flagbearer for the 2025 governorship poll.
He said the legal action is not a personal fight but a principled stand against impunity and disregard for party rules.
