# Legacy University, Okija, in Ihiala LGA, held its 9th matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The event, held at the main campus of the university, attracted dignitaries, government officials, religious leaders, education stakeholders, community leaders, parents, students, and security agencies, among others.

The Founder and Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Leonard Nkameme, while addressing the gathering, described the matriculation as a celebration of resilience, vision, and strong dedication to producing globally competitive graduates. He recounted the harrowing moments following the 2012 plane crash, which nearly shattered their accreditation pursuit, but expressed gratitude that hope was rekindled to reposition the university for greatness.

# The National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission In charge of The South East and Supervising Commissioner for Anambra State, Mr. Nnamdi Ukeagu has lauded peaceful conduct of the on going Continuous Voter Registration of INEC in Anambra State.

Mr. Ukeagu who stated this at INEC office in Awka after monitoring the exercise in four different wards in Oyi, Dunukofia and Awka South LGA’s alongside the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Anambra State, Queen Elizabeth Agwu, observed that the CVR is moving smoothly as a result of the adequate arrangements made by INEC officers in the state for the exercise and called on eligible voters in the state who have turned eighteen years to participate in the exercise in order to vote during the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

On her part, Agwu disclosed that she monitors the exercise everyday with her staff to ensure that everyone who comes for CVR is registered and called on eligible voters in the state to come out in large numbers and register so that they will be able to vote in Anambra governorship election.

# The Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, has taken a significant step to ease the financial burden on families in Njikoka by paying the hospital bills for receiving critical medical care at Beluchukwu Memorial Hospital and Maternity Home, Enugwu-Ukwu.

The mayor personally covered the medical expenses worth Millions of Naria of the following children: Nnabudo Somtochukwu, Okafor Nneka, Chukwuma Kachisimerem and others.

Beluchukwu Memorial Hospital and Maternity Home, a trusted healthcare facility in Njikoka, expressed deep gratitude to Mayor Njikoka for this timely intervention, which has brought relief and hope to the affected families.

By alleviating the financial stress associated with medical treatment, the mayor ensures that these children receive the necessary care without delay, contributing to their recovery and overall well-being.

# Operatives of the Police-led Joint Security Force from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Aguata, while on a night visibility patrol around Amaokpala, on Saturday,
encountered a group of armed hoodlums and engaged them in a gun duel.

During the operation, the operatives rescued a 26 year old female kidnap victim, neutralized one of the armed criminals.

Spokesperson Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga through a press release stated that the Operatives
recovered one pump-action gun, eleven live cartridges, One ash-coloured Toyota Camry Sedan with Reg. No: Lagos-EPE-208-FK, One Police belt

# The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi has commended the Nigeria National League (NNL) management under the leadership of Chief George Aluo for the success story recorded in the just concluded Super 8 competition.

The former Super Eagles player lauded the NNL management for a smooth organization of the eight-day competition which was held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.

Iloenyosi Chairman maintained that the extension of Chief Aluo’s tenure as NNL Supremo is justified judging by the success story of the Super 8 playoffs.

The Anambra FA boss averred that there has been significant leap in the growth of the ‘Most Important League’ as in the previous season the four clubs who earned promotion from the NNL to the NPFL all maintained their league status while NNL teams has in the past two years played in the finals of the President Federation Cup.

 

# In a show of leadership and civic duty, the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Area, Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, carried out a comprehensive inspection of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the wards of Njikoka LGA.

The Mayor visited multiple INEC registration centres to monitor the process, engage officials, and encourage residents to participate fully. He stressed the importance of voter registration in securing the future of good governance, especially as Anambra prepares for the 2025 governorship election.

Barr. Ononiba commended INEC’s efforts and the enthusiasm of ndi Njikoka, while urging traditional rulers, youth leaders, and stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilization. He reminded residents that voter cards remain their power to support the continuity of good leadership under Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR.

He called on all eligible citizens to register and vote wisely, ensuring that the transformational leadership of Gov. Soludo is sustained beyond 2025.

# The ADC Presidential hopeful, Mr. Peter Obi, demonstrated once again his unwavering commitment to grassroots development by making significant donations aimed at empowering his community.

Mr. Obi donated ₦50 million to the Agulu Microfinance Bank to boost access to funds for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the area. This move is expected to enhance economic activities and support business owners striving to grow despite harsh economic realities.

In addition, he donated ₦10 million to the Agulu Skill Acquisition Centre to facilitate vocational training and empower the youth with practical skills for self-reliance.

The Agulu Progressive Union (APU) women’s wing also received ₦30 million, a gesture that will go a long way in supporting their activities, welfare programs, and economic initiatives.

To strengthen community security, Mr. Obi presented two brand new Innoson pickup trucks to the Agulu Vigilante Service, ensuring improved mobility for patrol and effective local security operations.

# The Mayor of Dunukofia LGA, Hon. Chijioke Ozumba and his entourage stormed the Umudioka residence of Chief Ben Amuta in appreciation of a Security vehicle donated to him.

Recall that, in a bid to enhance security across Dunukofia LGA, the Onowu cum Regent of Umudioka community donated and delivered a Sienna bus to the Dunukofia Mayor.

The visit by the Mayor, on behalf of the good people of Dunukofia LGA was to appreciate Chief Amuta for this great show of love and commitment to the security of Dunukofia LGA.

 

# As part of a statewide advocacy outreach to secondary schools across Anambra State, the Managing Director of the Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO), Chuka Nnabuife, visited Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka, with a compelling message urging students to plan deliberately for their future.

Addressing the students, Nnabuife emphasized that their current stage in life is critical and must be used wisely. He encouraged them to embrace personal development and responsibility, declaring, “You came to be a great man. You came to be a successful man.” He stressed that lasting success comes from within and not from trying to impress others.

Speaking passionately, he told the students, “This is your time to plan your life,” warning that failure to act wisely now could lead to painful life lessons later. “If you decide not to be successful, the world will teach you the hard way,” he added, challenging them to stay focused on their education and avoid distractions.

# The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Anambra State Command through its Female Strike Force, (FSF) visited the Divine Mercy Motherless Babies Home in Amawbia, Awka and Enugu Ukwu General Hospital making generous donations of household goods, toiletries, non- perishable food items and cash.

Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC Anambra State Commandant represented by the Female Strike Force Commander, SC. Ngozi Okoye, presented the items and spent quality time with the children, creating a positive and uplifting experience.

Speaking during the presentation, he highlighted that the Corps’ was committed to community service and social responsibility in their area of operations hence the need to touch the lives of less privileged in the society.

During the visit, the team had meaningful interactions with the amazing kids at the Divine Mercy Motherless Babies Home, sharing a joyful and memorable experience.

At Enugu Ukwu General Hospital, the team provided essential items and cash donations to patients at the wards in support of the hospital’s efforts.

Responding, the management of both institutions expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for the visit and pledged to utilize the donated items effectively in providing comprehensive care to the children.
