# The Deputy Director, Inclusivity Gender And Inclusivity Department Independent National Electoral Commission, Headquarters Abuja, Habiba Abdulkareem- Jatto has urged eligible voters living with disabilities in Anambra State that have not registered before to register in the on going Continuous Voter Registration of INEC in order to use the assistive devices the commission has provided for them that will enable them to vote in November 8 Anambra governorship election without barriers.

Speaking in Awka during a sensitization meeting with disability community in Anambra on the need to update their data for adequate provision and effective deployment of assistive materials at the polling units, Jatto explained that the essence of the meeting was to show how inclusive and determined INEC is to ensure that no one is disenfranchised, and to achieve the inclusive intention effectively, INEC must rely on accurate, up to date data and detailed voter information, particularly data that reflects the needs and realities of persons with disability which will be gotten from registration, saying that those with disability should indicate their type of disability when registering and even if they have registered before but did not indicate their type of disability this is the time for them to do it.

Addressing the gathering, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC, in Anambra State, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, advised them to avoid double registration in the on going CVR as anyone who does so will be disenfranchised during election and disclosed that INEC will deploy assistive materials such as brail ballot guide, magnified glasses, writen instruction among others to various local governments in Anambra State to enable those with disability vote in the forthcoming November 8 Anambra governorship election and pointed out that the sensitization meeting was designed to provide accurate guidance and information on how persons with disability can register their voter details across the state among others

# A joint security team comprising police operatives from Nimo Division and local vigilante members, acting on credible intelligence, searched forested areas between Oraukwu and Nimo communities.

This led to the successful rescue of two female kidnap victims. The victims will be reunited with their families following necessary medical and psychological evaluations.

In another breakthrough, police operatives from Nteje Division, responding to an attempted attack by two armed suspects, engaged the assailants in a gun duel. The operatives neutralised the armed hoodlums and recovered: One (1) pump-action gun, One (1) dagger, and other incriminating items.

Meanwhile, Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal syndicates involved in these incidents.

# The Chairman, Anaocha LGA, Comrade Rome Ibekwe says that developmental projects being carried out by Governor Chukwuma Soludo has positioned the state to claim its status as light of the nation.

Comrade Ibekwe who stated this during a stakeholders meeting of Ndi Anaocha geared towards moving Anaocha forward and reciprocating Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s gestures towards the local government by ensuring he is re-elected on November 8.

The Mayor said Anaocha is becoming one of the major economic in the state following the many projects being done by the state government in the area and asked Ndi Anaocha not to mortgage their conscience by supporting any other candidate who lacks the Governor’s developmental precedence.

The stakeholders meeting attracted Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, Principal Secretary to Chukwuma Soludo, Bar. Joachin Anaeto, traditional ruler of Obeledu, Igwe Oragwam, other top government officials, and many others.

# Two children have been allegedly swept away by a menacing flood disaster that occurred on the very deplorable Ala-Ife road in Uli community Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, following torrential rainfalls in the area.

A trending video evidence which showed that the road is now a death-trap, calls for urgent government attention and interventions to avert further flood and erosion devastations in the community.

The video showed that the very massive ill-fated Ala Ife road in the council chairman’s community has been abandoned for years unconstructed, resulting to its very deplorable state as farmers can no longer access their farms; children no longer go to school whenever it rained for fear of being swept away by flood coupled with other difficulties inhabitants of the area faced accessing the inaccessible Ala-Ife road in Uli community.

# A retired Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Chief Ken Chukwurah has called for closer supervision and monitoring of the activities of the Anambra State Agu-Neche-Mba security operatives to maintain sanity and professionalism in the security sector.

Chief Chukwurah made the call while speaking in Awka, stressed the importance of government and police oversight to ensure that the operations of the outfit align with the objectives of the Anambra State government in establishing it, which remains to protect Ndi Anambra.

The Awka born security expert who alleged that some members of the security outfit now operate illegal detention cells, contrary to the law which mandates them to arrest and hand over suspects to the police, also claimed that certain operatives misuse the powers granted to them by intimidating the very citizens they are meant to protect, hence the need for stringent monitoring and accountability.

Also speaking, another stakeholder in Awka, Chief Ken Ekwenugo, emphasized that the Agu-Neche-Mba operatives must operate strictly within the ambit of the law, reminding them that their primary duty is to safeguard lives and property at the grassroots level and not to take the law into their own hands.

# Ahead of the November 8th 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) has restated its commitment to meticulous planning and execution of programmes and activities.

The Chairman, Board of the Electoral Institute (BEI), Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, disclosed this in a message to the capacity building training, organized by the Electoral Institute (TEI) for field agents engaged for its Voter Register Assessment (VRA).

Speaking at the event, the board Chairman described it as another demonstration of INEC’s meticulous approach to planning and execution of its programmes.

# The Mayor of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi has meet with political appointees in idemili south council secretariat, Ojoto.

The meeting which was convened by Obi with the help of idemili South APGA Chairman, Chief Kizito Anoliefo was to commend them for their efforts towards the progress of our council area and our party.

The event was also to know the challenges they encounter in their wards during this period of Continuous Voter Registration(CVR), and find solution to them.

“We are determined to make sure that all the electorate in idemili South secured their voter’s card to be able to participate in the forthcoming election.By voting, we add our voice to the chorus that forms opinions and the basis for actions”. The Mayor stated.

# The Association of Point of Sale Agents (APSA) in Njikoka LGA has received a significant boost to their operations, courtesy of the Mayor, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba.

As part of his administration’s commitment to promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Mayor donated 250 plastic chairs, tables, and branded banners to APSA to enhance their visibility and comfort while conducting business.

During the presentation, Hon. Ononiba assured the association that a financial grant would be provided before the end of August to further support and strengthen their operations. He emphasized the importance of empowering grassroots businesses, describing POS agents as key drivers of local economic growth and financial inclusion.

# The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Bar. Sly Ezeokenwa, has visited the Onitsha South LGA Secretariat in Woliwo, ahead of the Valedictory Honours for his late father, Chief (Hon.) Sir Sylvester Anyarue Chukwuma Ezeokenwa, KSJI.

The visit was to personally inspect preparations and ensure that all necessary arrangements were in place for a befitting session to honour the life and legacy of his father—a man whose name resonated with integrity, community development, and loyalty to the APGA vision.
