# Uke Christian community was deep and overflowing at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church during a Thanksgiving Holy Mass and Grand Reception in Honor of an illustrious daughter of the land in the service of God at St. Scholastica Benedictine Abbey, Umuoji, a community of Nuns of the Catholic Church.

Mother-General, Rev. MarySussan Ekpechi, was favored as she had been lifted spiritually in her journey in the vineyard of God.

The Parish Priest of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church Uke venue for the event expressed his overwhelming disposition to behold the unique event which he described as a rare privilege.

# The Anambra State Football Association Chairman, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, has expressed gratitude to Akubudike Energy and Foundation for their recent partnership. This collaboration aims to revive and rejuvenate football in Anambra State, where the league has not been actively played for over 40 years.

The partnership will see Akubudike Energy and Foundation work closely with the Anambra State Football Association chairman to develop football infrastructure, provide training, and create opportunities for young athletes. # Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu, arrested four male suspects and recovered 2 (Two) Pump Action Guns and Nine 9 (Nine) Live Cartridges in Amansea, Awka.

This was based on credible intelligence on a Case of kidnapping where a ransom of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira) only was paid before the victims were released.

Anambra Police Spokesperson, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga in a press release stated that the Case was earlier transferred to the unit from B Division Awka on 14th August 2025.

The arrested suspects are: Chigozie Igboekwu ‘M’ aged 31 years, Odumegwu Chibuike ‘M’ aged 23 years, Jonah Awudu ‘M’ aged 40 years, and Okechukwu Nwari ‘M’ aged 33 years.

“The Case shall be charged to the Court on the conclusion. Meanwhile, operations are still ongoing to arrest other gang/syndicate members’. Ikenga stated.

# Peace FC of Awka defeated Ogbaru FC 2-1 in the opening match of the maiden edition of the 2025 ANSFA Anambra State Football League sponsored by Chief Jim Martin Nwabueze, MD/CEO of Akubudike Energy Ltd.

Ejike Justice and Chidi Nnachor were the scorers for Peace FC with both hitting the opponent’s net in the 10th and 49th minutes respectively while Onyekwelu Agha reduced the deficit just before the end of the game as time ran out on Ogbaru FC.

Earlier on in an entertaining female football match before the curtain raiser, Awka Angels obliterated Dynamite Angels FC of Oko 4-1 as Oluchi Akujieze bagged a brace in the 52nd and 78th minutes while Chidubem Ofokaihe and Chioma Asiegbu were also on the score sheet scoring in the 48th and 69th minutes respectively with Ebele Nwobu’s goal in the 44th minute in the first stanza serving as a consolation goal for the Dynamite Ladies.

# The MD/CEO of Akubudike Energy Ltd, Chief Martin Nwabueze fondly known as Akubudike N’ Umudioka said his passion for the game of football and the quest for the growth of the game at the grassroots level was his reason for bankrolling the maiden edition of the Anambra State Football League after many years of inactivity.

Chief Akubudike who was represented by Chief Sunny Anene during the opening fixture, while speaking, commended the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) under the leadership of Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi for the vision and drive behind the initiative aimed at unearthing hidden talents at the grassroots level. He charged the various teams to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship during the course of the competition.

On his part, ANSFA Boss, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi described the moment as historic for football development in the state while affirming that it was one of the happiest days of his life owing to the partnership with Chief Nwabueze who loves the game of football and has shown interest in human capital development through sports especially football.

# The traditional ruler of Uke in Idemili North LGA, Igwe Charles Agbala has urged ndi Anambra to embrace Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s 1 Youth 2 skills scheme which has given employment to thousands of Anambra youths.

Speaking at his palace during his 9th Iwa ji/ New Yam Festival on the throne of Uke ancient kingdom the monarch observed that having one source of income, skill or business was no longer enough to meet up with the myriads of responsibilities in the present Nigerian ailing economy.

Igwe Agbala further advised Igbos to go back to farming which has also been exemplified by His Excellency and His wife Dr. Nonye Soludo through the ongoing ‘Own your own garden initiative’ no matter your profession, vocation or occupation.

Igwe Surv Agbala also called on Ndi Anambra to support the government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo saying that he has accomplished many feats and deserves to go for a second term in office to enable him finish his ongoing projects and programs.

# Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, has commended the Searites Foundation for its Annual Programme and Award for Excellence in the Igbo Language, which recognized outstanding pupils and students from public schools in Abagana.

Hon. Ononiba also applauded the massive empowerment initiative that took place at Chime Hall, Abagana, describing it as a commendable effort in community development.

The local government boss further encouraged continued support for the Private Public Community Partnership (PPCP) model championed by Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

# The Chairman of idemili South local government area, Dr. Mrs Amaka Obi has distributed medical equipment to primary health centres across the council area.

The distribution exercise, held at the local government secretariat, in Ojoto, saw over 30 categories of essential medical equipments distributed to every healthcare in the council area to make quality healthcare available for the residents.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Obi commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for boosting healthcare centres not just in idemili south but Anambra State in general. She stated that the distribution underscores State Government’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare services, aiming to make quality healthcare accessible to all citizens.
