Trump Blasts Israel’s Qatar Strike—Voices Strong Displeasure Over Attack on U.S. Ally

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed strong disapproval of Israel’s airstrike on Qatar, describing the attack as “not a good situation” and saying he was “very unhappy” with how the operation unfolded.

Trump emphasised that while the United States supports efforts to end Hamas’s violence and secure hostage releases, the strike—carried out without prior coordination—did not advance American or Israeli interests.

According to him, the Trump administration received a warning of the strike from the U.S. military just before it occurred.

In a social media post, he added: “Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals. However, eliminating Hamas, who have profited off the misery of those living in Gaza, is a worthy goal.”

Earlier, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Palestine had condemned Israel’s action.

The UAE expressed support for Qatar after the strike, with its Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, condemning “in the strongest terms the blatant and cowardly Israeli attack that targeted the sisterly State of Qatar.”

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack “constitutes a blatant violation of the State of Qatar’s sovereignty, a dangerous assault on international law and the United Nations Charter, and an irresponsible escalation that threatens regional and international security and stability.”

Saudi Arabia, in its own statement, declared: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces, in the strongest possible terms, the brutal Israeli aggression and the blatant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar.”

It further affirmed: “The Kingdom affirms its full solidarity and support for Qatar, placing all its capabilities at its disposal to assist in any measures it may take, while warning of the grave consequences of the Israeli occupation’s persistent criminal assaults and its blatant violations of the principles of international law and all international norms.”

A follow-up statement from Riyadh added that the strike constituted a “flagrant violation of international law and an escalation that threatens regional security and stability.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also reacted, warning that “continuation of the attack by Israel will have impacts not only on the region but on the entire world.”

SaharaReporters earlier reported that in a historic escalation, Israel carried out its first-ever strike on Qatari soil, sparking fierce condemnation from Doha.

The Israeli military confirmed that explosions in Doha were the result of an assassination attempt targeting members of the Hamas leadership and senior officials of the group.

“The IDF and Shin Bet, through the Air Force, recently carried out a targeted attack on the top leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

“The members of the leadership who were attacked led the terrorist organisation’s activities for years, and are directly responsible for carrying out the October 7 massacre and waging the war against the State of Israel,” the statement continued. It further claimed that “steps were taken to minimize harm to uninvolved people, including the use of precision weapons and additional intelligence information.”

Attempting to maintain diplomatic balance, Trump clarified the strike was a decision by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not by his administration. He confirmed that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff had warned Qatar, but the notice came too late.
