Meta has revealed its latest wearable tech, the Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, which for the first time include a color display embedded in one lens and are controlled via a new EMG-based wristband called the Neural Band.
Priced at US$799 (glasses plus wristband), the Ray-Ban Display will hit U.S. stores on September 30. Availability is expected in additional countries from early 2026.
Features include live message previews from WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram; real-time captions and translations; navigation displays; photo & video capture; and interaction through hand gestures captured by the wristband. The display only activates when needed in order not to obstruct the wearer’s vision.
Battery life is around six hours of mixed use, with charge-case support extending total usage. The Neural Band offers about 18 hours on its own and is water-resistant. The device weighs roughly 69 grams.
Privacy concerns have been raised over the potential for discreet recording, as the design allows cameras and mics to operate in everyday public settings. Meta asserts that user control, transparency, and visible indicators of recording are built into the product design.
