Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has honoured Afrobeats legend 2Baba (formerly known as 2face Idibia) on his 50th birthday, commending his influence on the country’s music industry and cultural landscape.
In a statement issued Saturday, Tinubu described 2Baba as a “national treasure” whose songs have bridged generational divides and promoted Nigeria’s soft power abroad. He also called on the judiciary and music industry stakeholders to protect artists’ rights and investments in the creative arts.
2Baba rose to prominence in the early 2000s with hits like “African Queen” and “Only Me,” becoming one of the country’s most beloved voices for his enduring talent and advocacy for social causes.
