APC Says It Will Use Votes, Not Force, to Win Abia in 2027

Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Kalu, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) intends to win Abia State legitimately in the 2027 elections using popular votes, rejecting any notion of federal force or coercion.

In a statement, Kalu said: “APC will apply votes, not federal force to take over Abia”, stressing the party’s commitment to the principles of free, fair, and credible elections.

His remarks come amid rising tensions over party control of the state, where the PDP currently holds significant influence. Supporters of the ruling PDP in Abia had previously warned of possible “interference” from federal agencies in future contests.

Kalu’s assurance aims to reassure the electorate and opposition that the APC intends to respect democratic norms rather than rely on coercive measures.
