Key aides and loyalists of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara were reportedly absent at a high-profile reunion between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, sources told Punch.
Eyewitnesses said that despite the governor’s entourage being present, government functionaries aligned with Fubara did not attend. One attendee noted it was “unusual to see many of Fubara’s men missing.”
The reunion, held at Wike’s private residence, was intended to underscore political reconciliation. Wike commented during the event that “we must heal our wounds and work together for the good of Rivers.”
The absence of Fubara’s inner circle has fed speculation about lingering factional tension within the state administration and the sincerity of the reconciliation gesture.
