Ekwunife Snubs Gov Soludo At Public Event, Fuels Political Tension

The political temperature in Anambra State escalated further this week after Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, reportedly ignored Governor Chukwuma Soludo at a public function, widening the rift between the two.

The public snub comes amid ongoing conflict sparked when Soludo questioned the legitimacy of Ekwunife’s academic credentials, particularly her claimed PhD. In retaliation, Ekwunife accused Soludo of weak leadership and even made personal allegations about his family.

At the recent gathering, the cold treatment was evident — Ekwunife declined to acknowledge Soludo’s presence, a move described by observers as a political message rather than coincidence.

Earlier, Ekwunife had reportedly alleged that Soludo’s wife Nonye had an affair with late former governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju, and raised doubts about paternity within Soludo’s household. In response, Mrs. Soludo gave Ekwunife 72 hours to retract her claims and apologize publicly, warning of legal action if she fails.

Ekwunife, undeterred, dismissed Mrs. Soludo’s demands, insisting any explanations should be directed to the governor himself, not her.

The widening feud threatens to undermine party unity ahead of the November 8 state election, as both camps stake claims to influence and legitimacy in Anambra politics.
