# The Anambra State Government has inaugurated the implementation committee of the Cooperatives Startup Programme under the 1Youth, 2Skills Initiative Plus Phase 2.

The Cooperative Startup Programme is a new system designed to provide beneficiaries with direct support for shop acquisition, business establishment, structured operations, and continuous monitoring.

The inauguration, conducted by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba, marks a strategic progression toward equipping beneficiaries with tools and materials for full business stabilization by ensuring they access the financial support required to open shops, commence operations, and scale their enterprises sustainably.

The Commissioner announced that 730 cooperatives have been profiled, with a target of 700 cooperatives selected based on needs assessment.

# Anambra based club, Solution FC has officially unveiled its new technical crew and 33 players ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

The unveiling ceremony was which held at the Awka City Stadium, attracted sports officials, club stakeholders and supporters.

The club formally introduced experienced tactician Coach Willie Ndube as the new head coach, alongside his assistant Coach Obinna Achebe, as they lead the Solution Boys into a new era.

The squad also includes 33 newly recruited players who are expected to strengthen the team ahead of their first league match an away fixture against Akwa United, a side relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

# Anambra State Chapter of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers has marked this year’s Chinua Achebe Literary Festival and Memorial Lecture with the theme: “Revisiting The Trouble With Nigeria: The Achebean Perspective.”

According to the Coordinator and organizer of the event, Mr. Izunna Okafor, aside from remembering and honoring Chinua Achebe and his world-acclaimed literary works and themes, the event also serves as a platform to encourage young writers and mirror the society in relation to Achebe’s work.

Okafor, while seeking sponsorship and partnerships to ensure that the legacies of Chinua Achebe are kept alive, urged the Anambra State Government to establish a Writers’ Residency and support the group with a vehicle for mobility.

# The Nigerian media have been abuzz over a rumour that the immediate Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has passed on in London.

Reacting, Hon. C. Don Adinuba, Former Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, maintained that the rumour has no basis, stating that Obiano lives in the Texas, United Staes, and not London.

” Obiano is not just alive, but healthy, strong and too agile for someone who has just turned 70 years. We thank people from different walks of life across the globe, including leading international media like the BBC, for their acute interest in the former governor whose large heartedness and record of service delivery remain solid years by any standard”. Adinuba noted.

# Anambra State Government has arrested seven illegal revenue collectors at Umueze Anam, Umueri and in Nkpor.

The suspects arrested are: Olisah Monday, Chukwubuike Tony, Nweke Stephen, Nwachukwu Nnamdi, Ugochukwu Umerah, Oluebube Chukwunagolum, and Adakaigbo Onyeka.

In his speech, the Commander of Special Squad, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, AIRS, Mr. Nathan Obikwelu, said
they were called by an unknown person that some suspects stopped a tricycle operator carrying eighteen cartons of fish at Umueri, and demanded eighteen thousand naira from him before his team arrived and arrested them.

Obikwelu further explained that another set of suspects were arrested while collecting illegal money at a sand mining site at Umueze Anam, even as they picked the last suspects along Nkpor – Obosi road.

The Special Squad Commander who appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all he has done for the agency, thanked the AIRS Chairman Dr. Greg Ezeilo, for the provision of logistics to them, and warned illegal revenue collectors to desist; as they will continue to arrest and prosecute them.

Reacting, one of the suspects, Mr. Nwachukwu Nnamdi, agreed that they were collecting money, but said that they have legal document they are working with.

# The second session of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) study visit to Anambra featured another round of engaging interactions and knowledge sharing has been held.

Speaking, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Greg Ezeilo, in his address, welcomed the visiting delegation and delivered a comprehensive presentation on Taxation of the Informal Sector, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

# The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, has urged members of the Association of Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria (APKMN) to deepen their lives of holiness by prioritizing the good of others through selfless service.

Archbishop Okeke made the call during a Holy Mass to mark the 17th APKMN National Conference, held over the weekend at the Madonna Renewal Centre, Nkpor, Onitsha, Anambra State.

This year’s conference was themed “Hope, Faith, and Charity in Contemporary Society.”

According to him, Christians must consistently cultivate a mindset focused on the welfare of their neighbours and on inspiring hope in society.

# The President-General of Umueri General Assembly in Anambra-East Local Govern­ment Area of Anambra State, Chief Amb. Dr. John Metchie has said that he predicted Gov­ernor Chukwuma Charles Solu­do’s reelection in September this year during the 2025 Umueri New Yam Festival Celebration.

Metchie said he predicted Soludo’s historic reelection vic­tory when he told journalists while responding to questions from them during the commu­nity’s new yam festival this year that the governor had already won the November 8th gover­norship election because there is absolutely no one contesting with him or against him.

The community leader who spoke with journalist in his country home Ezi-Umueri, recalled that he had made it cate­gorically clear that there is no va­cancy for now in the Light House Awka and that anyone else seek­ing to be governor should go to states like Kaduna and try their luck because Anambra state has been taken by Governor Chuk­wuma Charles Soludo.
