# The Executive Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr Vera Nwadinobi says with the 30 public primary schools the government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo plans to build in Anambra communities that are lacking public primary schools, more learners will have access to quality and free education as public schools have more qualified teachers than private schools.

Dr Nwadinobi who stated this during a media chat in Awka, disclosed that in addition to the eight thousand,one hundred and fifteen teachers already employed by Governor Soludo,more teachers will also be recruited to ensure that the quality of education in the state is sustained.

On the benefitting communities, the ASUBEB Boss said they must have declared interest, provide the land,submit the survey plan of the land to the ministry of education and emphasized that when the government builds the schools, they become the government’s property .

She disclosed that the projects will commence in earnest as Governor Soludo is a man who matches his words with action and prayed that God will give him the grace to continue to pilot the affairs of Anambra State which has given him a mandate to continue another four years term.

# ‌‎The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council during its November Congress, presided by the Chairman, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu,
urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to use the second term to implement media friendly policies and programmes that will impact the lives of journalists in the State positively.

NUJ while congratulating the governor on his re-election feat, maintained that this is the right time to establish a digital and responsive new National Light or by whatever name, a newspaper industry for employment of Anambra natives and others who are Journalists with flair for writing.

The Congress in a Communiqué issued after the November 2025 Congress held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka, stated that the initiative will help the students of Mass Communication and related courses to have somewhere to observe their industrial training programmes

# The Technical bid opening for 2022,2023 and 2024 projects under the Universal Basic Education Commission,UBEC, matching grant scheme for primary and junior secondary schools in Anambra state,has taken place at the headquarters of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB,in Awka.

In attendance to witness the UBEC/SUBEC Intervention Fund Projects bid opening were ASUBEB officials, contractors ,representative of Independent Corrupt Practices Commission,ICPC, members of Civil Society Organisations and the media.

In her address, the Executive Chairman, ASUBEB,Dr Vera Nwadinobi revealed that Anambra State previously could not access the federal government’s UBEC grants for 2022,2023 and 2024 intervention funds because it could not pay its share of the contributory funding but when Governor Chukwuma Soludo came on board, and aware of the invaluable impact which the grants could have on the infrastructural needs of schools in Anambra, thought it wise to pay so as to provide the needed infrastructural development in the state schools.

She informed the gathering that what ASUBEB is doing is in line with the 2007 public procurement Act,PPA, or law of the federal and state governments saying that the bidding process is an important component of procurement law which emphasises competition, transparency and accountability in the award of contracts and added that as required by the law, the board advertised in the last six weeks for tender in two national newspapers,one local newspaper and on the board’s website in order to give all the contractors the opportunity to compete for jobs outlined in the action plan for each year.

She stressed that Governor Soludo instructed them that they follow to the letter the narrow path of the procurement process to ensure that only those who are competent and have demonstrated exceptional capabilities will win the contracts.

# All Saints Anglican church, Onitsha, went agog with a Mouth-watering event which showcased the incredible talents of visually and hearing-impaired creatives, proving once again that there is ability in disability as Beautylens, in partnership with Onitsha Business School, hosted the 2025 Beautylens Skill Fest with the theme “Beauty Without Barriers.”

The event celebrated the creative brilliance and entrepreneurial spirit of people living with disabilities, showcasing their skills and products to the admiration of all.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Onitsha Business School, Prof. Olusegun Sogbesan, described the Skill Fest as the beginning of great things, emphasized that everyone has something valuable to contribute to make the world better, stressing that no one should be excluded or neglected. He applauded the initiative as a meaningful act of giving and urged everyone to cultivate a spirit of generosity, noting that there are always rewards for giving.

# The local government Chairman of Idemili South, Dr. Mrs Amaka Obi has warned parents to desist from maltreating and engaging their children in illicit businesses.

Dr. Obi gave this warning as the world commemorates 2025 World Children’s Day, describing children as gift of God and they should always be given proper care and treatment.

The local government boss said that, she was always sad whenever she saw children of eight, nine, ten and twelve years old hawking in streets, when their parents ought to have sent them to school.

Dr. Obi noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has made it possible for every child to have access to quality education by declaring free education in all the public schools in the state, warning that children should not be seen selling any item by the road side when they were meant to be in school.

Speaking about the theme which centers on “My Day, My Rights, And For Every Child, Every Right”, Dr. Obi said, it emphasizes giving children a platform to voice their opinions and have their rights respected. She urged parents and guardians to celebrate their children, make them happy to feel special.

# The Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Rome Ibekwe says his administration has provided twenty (20) new solar-powered boreholes in the ten (10) communities in the LGA.

Hon. Ibekwe stated this while commissioning another 20,000 litre water storage capacity solar powered borehole built by local government council at Nkwo, Adazi-Enu community.

According to Ibekwe, provision of portable water in the local government area is critical to solving the most basic needs of the people of area and said the water will be reticulated to different points in the community and the health to make sure they serve the community members better.

The local government boss said he is passionate about realizing the vision for a greater Anaocha and that he will continue to tow the footsteps of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to give Ndi Anaocha a livable and prosperous homeland.

# The Patron, Anambra State Market Amalgamated Trader’s Association (ASMATA), Chief Jude Nwankwo (Ezeudo) wondered that the just concluded Anambra State Gubernatorial election was unlike Nigeria election.

Nwankwo commended Ndi Anambra and the electorates for conducting themselves very well, saying that they voted without rancour, both the contestants, the winner and the losers comported themselves very well.

The patron said this in his office at the market while felicitating Governor Chukwuma Soludo on the landslide victory in the just concluded governorship election in the state.

Nwankwo who is also the President General (PG), Building Materials International Market Ogidi, Idemili North LG, commended the electioneering processes and the outcome of the election, saying that everything about the election, the voting processes and the announcement of results was fantastic.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has conveyed his sincere condolences to the Awolowo family, friends, and associates of Mr. Segun Awolowo Jnr, who passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2023, at the age of 62.

In his condolence message, Governor Soludo extolled Mr. Segun Awolowo as a renowned lawyer, national patriot and prominent figure within the investment and export sector of Nigeria and Africa, who stood for excellence and dedication in public service.

As a grandson of the sage and illustrious Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he embodied the principles of integrity, service, and leadership that his grandfather championed throughout his life. He was not only a proud scion of the Awolowo dynasty but also a vital contributor to Nigeria’s economic landscape, working tirelessly to elevate the standards of trade and investment across the continent.

The Governor noted that throughout his distinguished career, Segun Awolowo Jnr, who served diligently as the Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council from 2013 to 2021, championed initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and sustainable development in Nigeria. His commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation inspired countless individuals and businesses, reinforcing the role of the private sector in driving national progress.
