Davido’s First Baby Mama Waives Child Support, Decries Online Harassment

Sophia Momodu, the mother of award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido’s first daughter, has announced she is waiving all claims to outstanding and future child support payments from the singer, David Adeleke. The public declaration came as she condemned continued online harassment and false information directed at their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Momodu, an entrepreneur and social media personality, shared a statement on her platforms confirming her decision to assume sole financial responsibility for their child, a move she indicated was mutual. She stated that the decision makes her “fully responsible for her child’s financial needs, a development she described as ‘welcomed by both parties.’”

The statement sought to clarify the financial arrangements and fiercely defend her daughter’s privacy and welfare following “numerous posts intentionally targeted” at the nine-year-old. Momodu emphasized her daughter’s stability despite the public co-parenting dynamic.

She noted that while Imade’s paternal grandparent has covered school fees for the past three years, she has otherwise served as the child’s primary caregiver and handled all other expenses.

Momodu strongly pushed back against reports suggesting Imade’s well-being was compromised by the family’s high-profile disputes, asserting that the child is thriving away from the public eye.

”My daughter is happy, healthy, and well-rounded. Anyone who has met her can attest to this,” Momodu wrote in her public address, confirming her commitment to ensuring Imade is protected from continuous public scrutiny and online gossip.

The announcement comes amidst ongoing public discussions and legal proceedings regarding the co-parenting of their daughter. Davido has not issued a public response to Momodu’s recent statement.
