A bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Anambra State Real Estate Agents and Developers Regulatory Bill, has been red for the third time and pass into law.
The bill sponsored by the lawmaker representing Onitsha South One Constituency, Hon. Nonso Atuchukwu,
was passed on Tuesday at plenary.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that, at the ‘Committee of the Whole’, the lawmakers did some necessary corrections after which a motion was moved by the Majority Leader who is representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme and was seconded by the Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Nobel Igwe who is representing Ogbaru One Constituency, for its passage.

Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided the sitting said the law shall come into force, from 31st December 2025.

Atuchukwu, while speaking to House of Assembly Correspondents in an interview after plenary, experienced gratitude to the Speaker and the enter Members of the 8th Assembly, for making the law a reality.
” With the passing of this bill into law, we expect a more sanitized and arranged real estate sector in Anambra.
” Its not when you come to buy properties, you get scared. But now, with this law, lands will be properly documented.
” The regulatory agency will regulate everything that concerns real estate in Anambra State. No more payments of too many levies.
” By the time this agencies start functioning, ndi Anambra will see the reason why this bill was created. Its going to bring positive effects to the environment in Anambra State.
Also speaking with Journalists in an interview, Deputy Majority Leader and lawmaker representing Njikoka two Constituency, Dr. Jude Akpua said the law will end the irregularities in real estate system and that all the agents will be registered.
Also speaking on the importance of the bill in an interview with newsmen, Hon. Patrick Okafor, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North two Constituency, said the
law will eliminate quacks in other illegal practices that are involved in real estate and land agency administration.
‘I commend every member of the committee, and the entire Anambra 8th Assembly who worked hard to see that this bill was passed into law’. Okafor stated.
