Abia Gov Otti Making Good on Election Vows, Support Group Asserts

A political support group for Abia State Governor Alex Otti has praised the leader for fulfilling his 2023 campaign commitments, pointing to infrastructure upgrades and social welfare improvements as evidence of progress.

Mazi Nkem Okoro, state chairman of the Abia Arise organization, highlighted the revamp of Aba’s Port Harcourt Road from a marshy path to a modern thoroughfare, enhanced sanitation across the state, the rollout of free education, better-equipped health facilities, and the deployment of electric buses.

He added that significant work is underway on key urban and rural roadways.

In an interview with local media in Umuahia last week, Okoro outlined the group’s framework to promote Otti’s agenda, including a nine-member state team, three-person zonal units, seven-member local government committees, and five-person ward groups.

“We have organized these structures to effectively drive Governor Alex Otti’s policies to every corner of Abia,” he said.

Dismissing detractors who claim development is too slow, Okoro countered: “During the 24 years of PDP governance, where were those making noise now? We are prepared to defend our mandate and will not be deterred.”

The chairman also noted ongoing campaigns to mobilize new voters and encourage residents to obtain their permanent voter cards.

On retiree benefits, Okoro said Otti is tackling arrears in pensions, with a strategy to settle all outstanding amounts step by step before his term concludes.
