# The Founder Chi Brown International Foundation, Ugosimba Chioma Brown Okafor has encouraged widows to always rely on God for their needs in hard times saying that human beings can fail anyone who puts her trust in them.
Lady Okafor gave the advise at Awkaetiti, Idemili South LGA Anambra State, during her 2026 Widow’s Outreach where she distributed food items, clothes and gifts worth millions of naira to over 300 widows courtesy of Chi Brown International Foundation.
According to Okafor, this widows outreach began about 9 years ago.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ezeh, Mrs Adaora Akanebom, Mrs Ngozi Ufele, and Mrs Benedeth Igboanugo eulogized Ugosimba Chioma Brown Okafor for remembering and reaching out to widows every 2nd of January.
# Umuchu community in Aguata LGA of Anambra State erupted in colour, rhythm, and excitement as they hosted a spectacular Maiden Carnival, to mark the 22nd Ofala festival of their royal father, HRH Igwe Godson Ezechukwu.
The event themed: “Umuchu First”, which was sponsored by an illustrious son of Umuchu, High Chief Abraham Ikechukwu Otti, popularly known as Mighty Mighty, Ikenga Umuchu ji eje mba, drew indigenes and visitors alike in celebrating unity, culture and youth empowerment.
From Community Secondary School Field, Ibughubu, Umuchu the carnival train journeyed through the Express Road to Nkwo Umuchu and ended at the Umuchu Mini Stadium where various cultural troupes, youths, men and women groups and masquerades showcased exciting performances that thrilled the audience.
Addressing the community, the traditional ruler of Umuchu, Igwe Godson Ezechukwu, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the community through the unity of purpose that has become the guiding principle of the town, and prayed for lasting peace, unity, and continuous development in Umuchu.
# Ndiowu community in Orumba North LGA of Anambra State, has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to as a matter of urgency extend the date for the Community’s Igweship election scheduled for Monday, January, 12, 2026 to avert a looming crisis.
They called for the election to be postponed to Easter period to allow tensions calm because doing so now may permanently shatter the peace and unity prevalent in the community at the moment.
The indigenes of the community took this position, shortly after a peaceful protest against the exclusion of women from the election, and the proposed use of secret ballot voting system in contravention of the constitution of the community.
Their protest they also said revolves around the alledged plan by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Nwabunwanne Collins to conduct Igweship election (Eze Ndiowu) against the constitution of the town on Monday, January 12th, 2026.
# The Mayor of Oyi LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Nweke, officially commissioned and handed over a brand-new commuter Hiase bus that he generously donated to the Oyi Congress of Councilors.
During the handover ceremony, Hon. Nweke emphasized the importance of collaboration and mobility in governance, stating that this bus would not only ease travel for councilors but also strengthen their connection with the constituents they represent.
The event was attended by all Oyi LGA Supervisors, Congress of Councilors, Hon. Sunny Esedo, Secretary of Oyi LGA, Oyi LGA workers led by HLGA, and all praised the mayor’s commitment to improving the infrastructure of local governance.
# The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year old male suspect, Anikpe Valentine Chibuike, in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, Ogechukwu Mmadubugwu, a 35-year old single mother in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of the State.
In a press statement by Anambra Police Command spokesman, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrest was carried out by operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to stabbing the victim in the neck with a knife, an act that led to her death at about 12.00 midnight on 9th December 2025.
According to the suspect’s confession, the act was allegedly committed over suspicion of infidelity. He further stated that after going bankrupt and becoming a chronic debtor while attempting to establish a business for the victim, he became emotionally distressed, which led to the fatal confrontation.
The suspect also confessed to dropping a fake letter claiming he had been kidnapped by people he owed money, in a bid to mislead investigators and aid his escape from the crime scene.
The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigations, Ikenga further noted.
# The Chairmanship aspirant for Ayamelum LGA, Hon. Raymond Chukwunachi Okoye has praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for donating new Vehicles To Operation UdoGaAchi.
Speaking to the press in Ayamelum, Okoye said that security of life and properties remain essential to Governor Soludo’s adminstration .
He said that Gov Soludo’s Administration has prioritised the security of it citizen, and Anambra is on the rising side .
# The indigenous Dunukofia United Brothers Association has conferred a special honour and prestigious recognition on the Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area, Barr. Chijioke Ozumba, in appreciation of his exemplary administrative leadership and outstanding commitment to sustainable community development.
The award was presented by a two-time member who represented Dunukofia Constituency in the 6th and 7th Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu, on behalf of the Association.
The former lawmaker In his speech before presenting the award, noted that
Dunukofia is privileged to have such a leader at this time in history.
Ezeudu expressed gratitude to God for the Mayor’s life, his family, and the people of Dunukofia, and highlighted that the award was presented as a sincere token of appreciation for the visible progress being recorded across the local government.

# Former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Vincent Ofumelu, representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, held a strategic meeting with his supporters and stakeholders from across the constituency.
The meeting, held at his residence in umolum, Ayamelum was aimed at reconnecting with the people and reaffirming his commitment to their welfare and development.
During the gathering, Hon. Ofumelu expressed heartfelt gratitude to his supporters for standing by him throughout his tenure in office.
As a gesture of appreciation, Hon. Ofumelu distributed bags of rice and cash support to his supporters, acknowledging their loyalty and hard work.
The former lawmaker also took the opportunity to update his supporters on his intentions on the 2027 election general election and his ongoing efforts to secure more projects and support for the constituency, even while he is no longer in the green chamber.
