# Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has
commission major infrastructure projects at Community Secondary School (CSS), Enugwuabor, Ufuma in Orumba North Local Government Area.

The projects include a ₦23 million renovation of the school’s administrative block funded by Fidelity Bank Plc, as well as a newly constructed Physics, chemistry and biology laboratories and two classroom blocks provided by the Enugwuabor Oganiru Union, made up of members at home and in the diaspora.

Speaking at the event, Chuma-Udeh
lauded the Enugwuabor community for its strong collaboration with government and private partners following the

Prof. Chuma-Udeh expressed satisfaction with the transformation of the school, recalling her visit in 2003 when its dilapidated condition led to its classification as a state of emergency. She described the current upgrades as a remarkable turnaround.

She also commended the school principal, Mrs. Nkoli Okamba, for effective leadership, noting that student enrolment had increased from about 100 at the start of her tenure to over 450.

The commissioner said the project exemplified Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) model, applauding the combined efforts of the community, Fidelity Bank and the school’s alumni.

She stressed that the responsibility for maintaining public schools should not rest solely with government, urging host communities to take ownership of educational facilities to ensure sustainability and long-term benefits to Ndi Anambra.

# The social media space was agog, following the emergence of a Close-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage that exposed a well-organized and coordinated robbery operation in part of Awka, the Anambra State capital.

The eye-opening incident, which reportedly occurred around the ever-busy Kwata Junction axis of the city, was captured in a 3-minute-10-second video that has since gone viral on social media. The footage clearly shows how the suspects seamlessly carried out the criminal act in broad daylight and fled the scene unchallenged.

In the trending video, the victim was seen parking his vehicle along the axis before trekking across the road for reasons not captured in the footage.

The incident and the corroborating video have expectedly triggered a chain of reactions and counter-reactions on social media. While many netizens strongly condemned the suspects and the criminal act, others blamed the victim for what they described as carelessness, especially considering the value of items left inside the vehicle.

# Anambra State Chairman of the Party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Basil Ejidike have urged party members to participate fully in the ongoing nationwide electronic registration exercise.

Ejidike described it as crucial for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 general election.

The APC Chairman made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, convened by the Director General, South East Governors Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife to review progress and chart the way forward for the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise nationwide.

According to Ejidike, the e-registration “is not merely administrative; it is a strategic political process aimed at repositioning the APC for continued dominance, unity, and electoral victories at all levels in the upcoming general elections.

# The President-General of Enugwuabor Community, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State,
Mr. Willie Okafor, has praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to education, linking it to Anambra students’ consistent strong performance in WAEC, NECO and JAMB examinations.

Okafor while speaking during the
commissioning of major infrastructure projects at Community Secondary School (CSS), Enugwuabor, said the community’s intervention was in honour of the vision of the school’s founders and expressed hope for sustained collaboration with government and philanthropists.

He also appealed for additional government support, including science equipment, more teachers, corps members’ lodge, perimeter fencing, desks and internet connectivity.

# Former spokesperson of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) company, Mr. Cornel Osigwe, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Chairmanship, Nnewi North local government area

Osigwe who is contesting under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), made the declaration at the Nnewi Hotel.

In his address, Osigwe said Governor Chukwuma Soludo is working relentlessly to build a prosperous, livable and smart state, and for that vision to be fully realized, the vision must be translated to the grassroots where governance directly impacts the daily lives of the people.

Osigwe maintained that Nnewi needs leadership at the local level, and that he
understands this vision.

# The Director General, South East Governors Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife
has urged loyalists across Anambra
state’s 21 local government areas to ensure their membership details are updated.

Ekwunife made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka. She said the Anambra APC is targeting the registration of over 336,000 new members at the closed of the exercise.

Ekwunife commended the national leadership of the party for initiating the technologically driven registration process and reaffirmed Anambra APC’s support for Tinubu/Shettima’s re-election bid come 2027.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of cash awards to the three best-performing local government areas in the ongoing e-registration exercise:
₦500,000 for first place
₦300,000 for second place
₦150,000 for third place.

A breakdown of the performance showed that Njikoka Local Government Area recorded the highest number of registered members, followed by Awka South and Onitsha South.

# The Director of the Justice Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC), Nnewi, Rev. Fr. Ben Okolo says active participation of citizens is a critical driver of efficient and accountable local government administration in Anambra State and across Nigeria.

Fr. Okolo made this assertion during the Anambra Local Government Accountability Fellowship (ALGAF) Monthly Leadership and Governance Workshop (MLGW), organised by JDPC Nnewi in collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, with funding support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The January edition of the workshop was themed “Gender-Based Violence and Power Mapping for Strategic HDI Advocacy Towards Advancing Inclusive Local Governance at Community Levels in Anambra State.”

In his opening address, Fr. Okolo commended the UK FCDO and the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room for their sustained support of the fellowship, noting that the initiative was designed to strengthen grassroots governance through informed civic engagement.

The Catholic Priest recalled that the fellowship began with the careful selection of fellows, followed by targeted trainings focused on advocacy approaches, coordination strategies, and local government administration.

# Senator Uche Ekwunife, running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, has endorsed the joint ticket of President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This is coming at a time when there are speculations over the possible replacement of Shettima, a Muslim with a Christian candidate to balance the APC presidential ticket, which has been a subject of controversy since the 2023 general elections.

The speculation and the growing pressure for Shettima’s replacement is gradually gaining traction across the country with many Christians demanding a balance at Nigeria’s top political positions.

Ekwunife, however, endorsed the duo for a second term at a stakeholders’ meeting of the party which she convened at her event centre in Awka, the state capital, to deliberate on the party’s e-registration exercise in the state.
