…Kick-start 450 Million Development Across Njikoka
The Local Government Chairman of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, has officially flagged off the ₦25,000,000 ward-based development project at Enugwu-Ukwu Ward one.
Addressing stakeholders at the flag-off ceremony, Barr. Ononiba reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-centered governance and equitable distribution of resources.
The Mayor explained that each ward is empowered to identify priority projects that best address its peculiar needs, thereby ensuring transparency, community ownership, and sustainable development.
According to him, the ward-based approach is designed to take governance directly to the grassroots.
Ononiba further announced that all projects across the 18 wards will be executed simultaneously. This strategy, he noted, is aimed at ensuring balanced development across Njikoka, preventing unnecessary delays, and delivering timely results to all communities.
“The initiative marks the commencement of a comprehensive grassroots development programme that will be implemented across all 18 wards in Njikoka LGA, with a total projected investment of ₦450,000,000.
“For Enugwu-Ukwu Ward 1, the community opted for a solar system borehole and, the installation of solar streetlights project to improve access to clean, reliable water supply and to light up their ward”
“The synchronized implementation reflects the administration’s resolve to accelerate infrastructure growth and strengthen unity among the wards.
In their separate remarks, the lawmaker representing Njikoka One Constituency, Hon. Chidi Ibemeka, former TC Chairman of Njikoka, Hon. Aguiyi, Air Marshall Ben Chiobi (Rtd) amongst others, commended the choice of borehole as a vital intervention, and praised Ononiba for prioritizing essential services.
According to the stakeholders, the ward-based development initiative is widely seen as a landmark effort poised to leave a lasting impact across Njikoka Local Government Area.
Some residents of Enugwu-Ukwu Ward one, who spoke with Angel Network News (ANN), expressed gratitude to the Mayor for initiating the programme, describing it as a major step toward improving living standards at the community level.
