The Enugu State Police Command has detained three male suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition and hard drugs from them.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday in Enugu.
Ndukwe said that on January 19, police operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, acting on credible intelligence, detained Emmanuel Mba, 31, and Nnam Onukwube, 35, in Awkunanaw axis of Enugu South Local Government Area.
According to him, the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba identified as the head and executioner of the unlawful group in Enugu South LGA as of December 2025.
He said that the police recovered one pump action gun and a locally-fabricated Beretta-type pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large wrap of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, one HP laptop and one motorcycle.
The spokesman said that in a related operation on January 31, police operatives raided criminal hideouts in the Agbani axis of the state, detaining eight suspects.
“Following screening, one suspect, Monday Ezeani, 32, was found in possession of dried substance suspected to be cannabis sativa and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine (“Mkpuru-mmiri”).
“While the remaining suspects were released after preliminary investigation,” he said.
Ndukwe said that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Mamman Giwa, had reassured the public of the command’s firm resolve to protect lives and property.
He warned individuals involved in armed robbery and related crimes, cultism, and illicit drug activities to repent or face the full weight of the law.
