# The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announce the recommencement of its Electronic Membership Registration and Revalidation Exercise, scheduled to take place across the 8,809 Electoral Wards in Nigeria.
The Registration Exercise will start on March 1, 2026, and all interested Nigerians are invited to participate.
The requirements for registration are:
National Identification Number, Voters Card and 2 Passport Photos.
# The Department of Guidance and Counseling, Dunukofia LGA has organized a Primary School Quiz Competition as Part of its academic and developmental support activity for Pupils in the area.
Speaking on the event, held at the Unity Primary School, Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA, the Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. Celestina Oranye represented by the Guidance and Counselling Officer, Ozalla Primary School, Ifitedunu, Mr. Solomon Nwankwo said, “the competition was aimed at promoting academic excellence, building self-confidence, and encouraging healthy intellectual interactions among Pupils.
The competition which pulled together not fewer than 22 schools in Dunukofia LGA involved basically pupils in basic four class who were screened and presented for the competition based on their academic performances and the teachers’ recommendations.
According to Mrs. Oranye, the Supervising Desk Officer, Njikoka Local Government Education Authority under the Department of Guidance and Counseling served as the coordinator and judge for the programme.
# Demolition of illegally structures at Onitsha Main Market has began after the 14 days extension given to affected traders expired.
In a statement signed by Hon. Anthony Nwora, Chairman of Onitsha North Local Government, the council informed owners and occupants of unlawful buildings in Parks 1, 2, and 3 of Main Market, Onitsha, that the grace period had ended.
The notice, titled “Final Reminder on Demolition of Illegal Structures at Main Market, Onitsha,” stated that an initial 14-day notice had been given to the affected occupants, which expired on February 14, 2026.
# The Gubernatorial Candidate of African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the November 8, 2025 Election in Anambra State, Mr John Nwosu, has described the attack on the Presidential Aspirant on the platform of the party, Mr Peter Obi, Tuesday in Benin, Edo State, as disheartening and condemnable.
Reacting to the development, Nwosu said he received the news with deep concern, describing it as disheartening, condemnable, and a serious threat to the principles that underpinned the country’s democracy.
He called on relevant security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to investigate the incident, unearth the perpetrators, and ensure that they were brought to justice.
Nwosu said accountability was critical to preventing future occurrences and restoring public confidence, insisting that Nigeria must rise above violence and embrace a political culture rooted in maturity, tolerance, and respect for democratic values.
# Justice Joseph Ifeanyi Nweze of the Anambra State High Court has restrained Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo from demolishing Onitsha Main Market, a ruling that has brought relief and jubilation to traders.
The court also restrained the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the Commissioner of Police, and the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, who were named as respondents in the suit.
The plaintiffs, led by Izuchukwu Paul Madubuko and represented by Nnamdi Ibegbu (SAN) under Ref No: O/MISC.35/2026, sought a court order preventing the planned demolition.
In the court ruling, the seven applicants acted on behalf of themselves, traders, and occupants of Human Fence Zone 1 Line in the market.
# Anambra State Government has inaugurated a new caretaker committee for Nkwo Umunze Market in Orumba South Local Government Area.
The inauguration, carried out through the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, is aimed at ensuring effective administration of the market and improved government revenue collection.
Speaking during the inauguration, Chief Uba reiterated the state government’s position that markets across Anambra must operate fully on Mondays, noting that the sit-at-home order has since been relaxed in the state.
Uba warned the newly constituted committee that failure to ensure full compliance with Monday trading activities would attract immediate dissolution.
