Iraqi Militia Claims 28 Attacks on ‘Enemy Bases’

In neighbouring Iraq, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella body of pro-Iranian militias, said it launched coordinated attacks on what it described as enemy bases.

The group said Monday evening it carried out 28 military operations since dawn against targets in Iraq and elsewhere in the region, escalating already fragile regional security conditions.

In a brief statement, the militia said the operations involved dozens of missiles and drones but provided no specific details on targeted locations, damage assessments, or possible casualties.

The announcement follows escalating tensions after a joint U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran on Saturday, heightening fears of a broader regional confrontation involving multiple armed actors.

Tehran later responded with missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli and U.S. assets across the Middle East, signalling a widening cycle of retaliation and instability.
