# Anambra Patriots Association (APS) has organized a thank-you event for its coordinators across all political wards in the state to appreciate their efforts in ensuring that Governor Chukwuma Soludo won the last governorship election, as well as to motivate them to remain focused.

Addressing the gathering, the Convener of the Anambra Patriots Association, Architect Okey Ezeobi, commended members and leaders of the association for sustaining the mandate of the group, which he said is aimed at enthroning good and accountable governance that meets the needs of the common man, and expressed optimism that the association would, in no distant time, become a formidable political force that politicians who desire positive change would reckon with.

Architect Ezeobi, while reaffirming the association’s loyalty to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, said the group is not driven by monetary interests or emotions, but by the desire for good governance and accountability, disclosing that the association would support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, the National Chairman of the Anambra Patriots Association, Chief Damian Enekwechi, and the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka, who is also a member of the association, described the group as a foremost support group in Anambra State, urging members to remain loyal and focused, even as they called on Governor Soludo to further intensify his developmental efforts during his second tenure in appreciation of the support given to him by Ndi Anambra.

In their separate remarks, the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Political Matters, Mr. Alex Obiegbolu, and a former Chief of Staff to the state government, Mr. Primus Odili, represented by a former Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, commended the association for its commitment to promoting good governance and accountability, noting that the group has distinguished itself among about sixty-five support groups in the state, and expressed hope that it would continue to grow stronger both within and beyond Anambra State.

Speaking at the event held at Egwegwe Square in Nimo community, Obi while
addressing his supporters, declared that Nigeria had collapsed totally, and there was a need to redeem her, saying that he has never been desperate to be President of Nigeria, rather he is desperate to see a Nigeria that works.

The former Governor of Anambra State
urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the equipment which includes:
shuttle buses, sewing machines, grinding machines, trucks and motorcycles.

In his remarks, Ozodinobi explained that what informed his desire to empower his constituents was his humble background, where he experienced poverty before he and his siblings got to the level they are today and be able to give back to the society.

The federal lawmaker noted that with the empowerment equipment, he will make millionaires from the beneficiaries and advised them not to sell the equipment off; but instead use them to create wealth.

# The Anambra State Police Command today, 9th March 2026, held an hour-long meeting at the Anambra State Police Command, Awka with organisers of a planned protest over persistent electricity failure, alleged overestimated billing, and other related complaints tagged “Enough Is Enough.”

During the discussions, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Ibrahim Ezekiel acknowledged the concerns raised by the group regarding electricity supply and billing issues. He urged the organisers to adopt constructive dialogue and engagement with the relevant authorities responsible for electricity regulation and distribution, rather than resorting to street protests that may disrupt public order.

The Command emphasised the importance of peaceful and lawful channels in addressing grievances and encouraged stakeholders to pursue institutional means of resolving the issues affecting residents.

The Anambra State Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order while promoting peaceful engagement between citizens and relevant authorities.

# The Mayor of Idemili South LGA Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi, visited the Iyom Ifeabata Transformation Empowerment Initiative skills acquisition centre, where she expressed her commitment to empowering youths in the area.

According to Obi, the visit was aimed at encouraging and motivating the trainees to take advantage of the skills acquisition programs being offered at the centre. He assured the trainees of the local government’s support and commitment to providing them with the necessary resources to excel in their chosen skills.

The local government boss added that the initiative was part of the local government’s efforts to equip youths with employable skills, thereby reducing unemployment and poverty in the area.

# The key sponsor of the planned rally against First Power in Anambra, Comrade Osita Obi, has told the state police command that the upcoming protest slatted to hold on Saturday in Awka, will be peaceful.

Obi made the statement when he and other organising members visited the state police command to brief officers about the planned rally.

The activist however maintained that
that the only way to stop the planned rally is to arrest him.

Comrade Obi also wrote to the governor Chukwuma Soludo, assuring him that the rally organised under the auspices of the Electricity Consumers Rights Initiative and the Electricity Consumers Rights Network,
would be peaceful and orderly.

In the letter addressed to governor Soludo, Obi urged the authorities to hold him personally responsible in the event of any violent activity during the rally.

# As part of the activities to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day, the Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, visited oldest/very elderly women in the fourteen communities in Aguata LGA.

Presenting them with gift/food items, the Mayor and his team shared amazing time with the women, encouraging them as they individually prayed for the progress of young people in Aguata.

Ofobuike is set to host a massive Free Medical Care for women engaging in business activities at Orie Market, Uga, and as well present a business support of ₦50,000 to 50 petty traders in the market.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo took his campaign against the controversial Monday sit-at-home to schools in Isuofia, Aguata LGA.

Prof. Soludo visited about ten primary and secondary institutions to reinforce the message that Mondays are now fully restored as regular school days in Anambra State.

During the tour, the governor directed school administrators to take full attendance of teachers and students who resumed for academic activities. He also assured them that the state government had strengthened security to guarantee the safety of schools and students.

Soludo commended the teachers and pupils who showed up for classes, describing their presence as a strong sign that normal life is gradually returning despite years of disruption linked to the sit-at-home directive that has affected much of South-East Nigeria.

According to Soludo, the region cannot afford to remain out of sync with global standards of productivity.

# Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary on Tuesday, commends Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for the award and commencement of the dualization of the Magazine, 3:3- Otuocha Expressway, as a landmark infrastructure intervention in Onitsha North and Anambra in general.

Sponsor of the motion and lawmaker representing Onitsha-North two Constituency, Hon. Patrick Okafor in his submission noted that the Magazine G.R.A-3-3 – Otuocha Expressway is a critical arterial road linking the commercial hub of Onitsha with the densely populated 3-3 axis and adjoining communities.

Bar. Okafor maintained that the road is
serving thousands of residents, traders, transporters and businesses daily.
