Soludo Appoints ‘Uche Umeakuewulu’ New CMD For COOUTH

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the appointment of Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku.

A statement issued on Thursday, March 12, 2026 says the appointment takes effect from Friday March 13, 2026.

Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that
Dr. Umeakuewulu, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with a focus on gynaecologic oncology and women’s health, currently serves at the National Hospital, Abuja, where she has contributed to clinical care and specialist medical services.

Dr. Umeakuewulu is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCOG), and the International College of Surgeons (FICS).

The statement signed by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, explains that the appointment is part of ongoing efforts by the state government to strengthen leadership and service delivery in the health sector.
