# In a grand display of unity and gratitude, the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Awka was filled to capacity as Governor Chukwuma Soludo led the state in an inter-denominational thanksgiving service.

The event, themed “Leading with Wisdom and Integrity,” marked the conclusion of the Governor’s first four-year term and served as a spiritual precursor to his second-term inauguration scheduled for March 17, 2026.

The service brought together a diverse assembly of religious leaders from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and the Catholic and Anglican communions, as the atmosphere was one of solemn reflection and vibrant celebration, while various choir groups offered songs of praise for the “Solution” administration’s journey so far.

In his address, Governor Soludo, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, expressed deep gratitude to the people of Anambra for their resilience and support, while also acknowledging the hand of God that has guided them through every challenge.

Speaking on the central message of the gathering, which is ecumenism, the Governor assured that he would continue developing Anambra and the society, not by seeing people through their colour or the way they worship, but by the measure of value they bring on board.

# As the Anglican women all over the world celebrate this year’s Mothering Sunday, the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described them as veritable instruments for the propagation of God’s work.

In his Goodwill Message to all Anglican Women in the State, Rt. Hon. Udeze expressed satisfaction that they have contributed immensely towards the development of their various churches through meaningful programmes and activities.

The Speaker enjoined the Anglican women to emulate the Biblical virtuous women like Esther, Mary and Martha as well as Dorcas and Ruth among others, adding that their genuine service to God and humanity will be rewarded accordingly.

He changed them to shun acts capable of smearing their reputation as Christian Mothers but to uphold those virtues that glorify God.

Rt. Hon. Udeze called on fathers to continue to provide adequate security, love and care for their wives and join hands with them in building peaceful and progressive homes.

# Nnewi-based native doctor, Mr. John Paul Ezenagu, popularly known as “Mmou Mmili Afulu Anya,” has been paraded by the Anambra State Government for allegedly going against the Homeland Security Law.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the native doctor was taken to his mansion in Nnewi for a thorough search and to give explanations regarding his operations.

The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, speaking during the parade, emphasized that the native doctor, Ezenagu, allegedly lures young men and women by promising them quick wealth if they bathe in the stream behind his house, which is against the state’s Homeland Security Law, noting that he had earlier been cautioned over his activities but continued with the practice.

Emeakayi explained that after investigations, he would be handed over to the police for further investigation, after which he would face prosecution if found culpable.

Speaking to newsmen in an interview, the native doctor, apologized for his actions, saying he was ignorant of the law, and pleaded with Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the Anambra State Government, and the people of Anambra State to pardon him, promising not to engage in such acts anymore.

Mr. Ezenagu noted that he dredged the river and felt he had rights over it, promising that he would never do anything to pollute the river again.

# The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Housing Development Corporation (ANSHDC), Hon.

Chike Anyaonu, says ANSHDC is not a regulatory agency of Real Estate companies in Anambra, but rather, the Anambra State Ministry of Housing that sets regulating framework for those in the real estate business, adding that his corporation is competing with other real estate companies in the same industry.

Hon. Anyaonu who stated this in his office during a media chat with some journalists, bordering on the assessment of Gov Soludo’s first four years, said his corporation had liquidated all the outstanding loans owed to the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) by previous administrations.

He said ANSHDC, through the Government of Gov Chukwuma Soludo, had cleared all the outstanding loans owed to FMBN by the previous administrations.

He listed two major challenges facing the corporation to include Funds and Litigations, stating that with the help of Gov Soludo, they had been able to offset a loan of N587m and got back the collaterals trapped in those loans.

# A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Sam Onwuteaka Jr, says his aspiration to represent Anambra North Senatorial District in the Senate in 2027 is driven purely by the desire to enact laws that will improve the lives of the people and address pressing national challenges.

The security expert while speaking during a media briefing in Awka said his ambition to contest for the Senate seat in the National Assembly of Nigeria was motivated by altruistic reasons and a commitment to contribute meaningfully to development in the district, Anambra State and the country at large.

The senatorial hopeful, an alumnus of the Air Force Military School and Imo State University, identified environmental degradation, particularly erosion in the South-East, as one of the key issues he intends to tackle through legislation.

According to him, the South-East is currently battling over 5,000 erosion sites, with more than 2,000 of them located in Anambra State alone, a situation he described as a major environmental crisis requiring urgent federal intervention.

# Umuezeanya Youth Association of Umuoba Anam has declared four days of mourning over the sudden death of their active member, Mr. Ezebuilo Ikwegbuo, in a car crash.

Ikwegbuo, described as an illustrious member of the association, died last Sunday night in a car crash along Otuocha-Nkwelle Road in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He was returning from a burial ceremony of the father of Mr Alias Okaa Ogolo, former Chairman of Umuezeanya Youth Association, when his vehicle somersaulted and crashed into a road side valley.

An official statement jointly signed by Chairman, Secretary and PRO of Umuezeanya Youth, Chief Olisemeka Obeche, Osita Nneke and Augustine Okafor, explained that the declaration of the four-day mourning period from 9th-12th March, 2026, was to honour the deceased who was one of the most vibrant members of the association.

# The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to urgently expedite investigations into the alleged killing of a 27-year-old student, Noel Chinedu Okechukwu, reportedly shot by private security guards at the estate of Stella Oduah in Akiri-Ozizor, Ogbaru Local Government Area.

The demand formed part of a communiqué issued at the end of the Council’s monthly congress and signed by its Chairman, Dr. Emeka Odogwu, and Secretary, Dr. Okechukwu Onuegbu.

The communiqué followed a petition submitted to the union by a former secretary of the NUJ and father of the son, Chief Rex Okechukwu.

According to the family, the deceased, a student of Theatre Arts at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, was killed on August 17, 2024, while attempting to buy fresh fish from a nearby local pond close to the estate.

The NUJ said records available to it indicate that the bereaved family has since submitted several petitions to authorities including the Anambra State Police Command, Police Zone 13 Ukpo, the Office of the Inspector-General of Police, and the Anambra State Government.

# The Anambra State Police Command has intensified security measures across the State as preparations heighten for the second term inauguration of the State Government.

The Command in collaboration with other security agencies, has also stepped up security advocacy and public sensitisation as well as operations across the State, to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free event.

Anambra Police Command received one hundred (100) well trained and equipped personnel on armed and combat training from the Police College Oji River, a few days ago.

The Officers shall complement the strategically deployed personnel to critical locations, strengthened patrols, and enhanced intelligence gathering to maintain law and order before, during, and after the inauguration ceremony.

The Command also urges residents, stakeholders, and visitors expected for the event to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel as efforts are being made to guarantee the safety of all dignitaries and members of the public.

The Anambra State Police Command reiterates its commitment to providing adequate security and ensuring that the inauguration ceremony is conducted in a peaceful and secure atmosphere.
