CAF Vows to Accept CAS Ruling on Disputed AFCON 2025 Final

The Confederation of African Football has pledged to respect any decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Senegal’s appeal after the governing body stripped the Lions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title following their walk-off protest in the final against hosts Morocco.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe made the commitment on Saturday while addressing the ongoing controversy that has divided African football.

“We will respect the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport,” Motsepe said. “The regulations are clear and must be applied equally to all participating nations.”

The remarks come after Senegal lodged an appeal with the CAS last week, challenging CAF’s Appeal Board ruling that declared the final forfeited under Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations, awarding Morocco a 3-0 victory and the trophy.

Senegal’s football federation has described the CAF decision as “manifestly erroneous” and insists the result achieved on the field should stand.

Motsepe stressed that the confederation would await the CAS outcome before making any further comment on the title dispute. The case remains pending before the Lausanne-based arbitration court.
