# Amidst the leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the national level, its Anambra State chapter has elected Hon Chris McCool Nwosu as its chairman in the state.
Nwosu a journalist, media personality and publisher of Courage Magazine was elected through a consensus congress, which was affirmed by all delegates of the party who converged on Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The party had initially moved three motions before the commencement of the election and they included a motion for dissolution of the former state executive, a motion to adopt the outcome of the ward and local government congresses held on Friday and another for the adoption of a consensus method of election.
Nwosu was announced the state chairman, alongside 35 other members, who now constitute the state executive of the party, and were sworn in immediately.
The newly elected chairman, Hon Chris McCool Nwosu in his inaugural addressed promised to ensure cohesion in the party, while urging members to ensure loyalty and steadfastness.
# Anambra State Government says reports by a few sections of the media suggesting that “a structure in the new Government House” collapsed due to substandard quality during the heavy rainstorm is misleading and mischievous.

noted that no structure within the Anambra State Government House collapsed.
“What was affected were a few partitions of the barricade barriers erected outside the Government House, approximately 20 metres away from the perimeter fence”.
Aburime maintained.
# Community-led monitors are fast becoming a critical force in strengthening healthcare delivery and accountability across Anambra State, as stakeholders draw attention to their expanding role in improving transparency, service quality, and patient outcomes at Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
This growing influence formed the centrepiece of an advocacy engagement between the Anambra State Advocacy Team (SAT) and officials of the Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Development.
Rather than focusing solely on funding demands, the discussion spotlighted how grassroots actors are reshaping healthcare delivery through the Integrated Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Project.
Led by Mrs. Ify Unachukwu, the SAT used the meeting to demonstrate how trained Community-Led Monitors (CLMs) are helping bridge longstanding gaps between healthcare providers and the communities they serve.
The monitors, drawn from within the communities, are playing an active role in tracking health services, gathering feedback from patients, and working collaboratively with facility staff to improve care delivery.
# It was a solemn moment of joy, at Queen of All Hearts’ Catholic Parish in Aguluzigbo, Anaocha LGA, as 25 couples were joined in holy matrimony, giving them the opportunity to serve God and exercise their Catholic Faith fully without restriction.
The Pariah Priest of the Church, Rev. Fr. Callistus Nwogu, giving an insight into the essence of the historic event, said, ‘We have a large population in the Church but unfortunately many of them don’t participate actively in necessary activities of the Church, including Holy Communion.’ He blamed the situation on marriages not recognized by the Church.
Nwogu expressed joy that the traditionalists among the husbands and those he said that had left the Catholic Church for a long time, submitted to the decision for the wedding and began to come back to the Church due to the faith of their wives.
# Anambra State Head of Service (HOS), Barr. Ngozi Iwouno went round the offices at the Jerome Udoji Secrtariat, Awka to take attendance of workers at the early period of 10: 10 am.
# Residents of Onitsha have lauded the Archbishop of the Onitsha Catholic Archdiocese, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, for his remarkable act of charity in marking the Easter season with inmates at the Onitsha Correctional Centre.
In separate interviews, a cross-section of residents described the Archbishop as a deeply compassionate and exemplary leader, widely respected for his unwavering commitment to uplifting the poor and marginalized.
A trader, Mr. Michael Okoye, highlighted that Archbishop Okeke has made it a personal tradition to celebrate his birthdays with prison inmates, providing them with food items, toiletries, and other essential supplies. He noted that such gestures embody the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ, whose death brought redemption to humanity.
According to Okoye, the Archbishop’s consistent outreach has inspired a personal resolve to seek meaningful ways to support the less privileged within society.
# St. Michael’s Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nimo, in Njikoka LGA, is set to expand its academic offerings with the introduction of technical training programmes aimed at equipping students with practical skills for the modern workforce.
Speaking in an interview, the School Manager/Principal, Rev. Fr. Dennis Nwabueze, said that plans are in top gear to introduce the programmes as part of the institution’s commitment to providing students with practical knowledge and skills for future careers.
Fr. Nwabueze explained that the move aligns with growing calls for education systems to produce graduates who are not only academically sound but also technically proficient, noting that the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and hands-on experience, thereby preparing students for both higher education and immediate employment opportunities.
At the block housing the Ministries of Transportation, Petroleum, Housing, Information and Health the HOS ordered all workers to come out of their various offices to the reception point, downstairs, for a re-registration of attendance despite whichever one they had made in their offices.
To instill a compliance in the registration, Iwouno warned that no one should register anyother names than theirs, saying that any ministry that flouted her warning would be punished.
Gates were shut against those not found in the cells of their offices during the visit which lasted about 20 minutes; afterwards the HOS office crew that came with her rallied up the registers for submission.
# Ven. Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue, a senatorial aspirant for Anambra Central under the Labour Party, has revealed that his return to active politics is driven by what he describes as a divine mandate to serve and restore purpose to governance.
Speaking during a meeting with his media team in Awka, the cleric traced his journey from politics to priesthood and now back to the political stage, presenting it as a path shaped by experience, faith, and a deep commitment to public service.
Before answering the call to ministry, Ven. Ikezue had built a foundation in Nigerian politics. He served as Personal Assistant to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a role he said exposed him to the inner workings of governance and leadership.
Reflecting on that period, he noted that the experience helped shape his understanding of public administration and policy. He also recalled working alongside key figures who have since risen in national leadership, including Abbas Tajudeen to Benjamin Kalu.
According to him, those early years planted the seeds of a long-standing passion for service, one that has grown over more than three decades.
# The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential hopeful, Mr Peter Obi has empower five youths in Onitsha with N2.5 million naira.
The empowerment, attracted by Faithspiration Initiative, an NGO own by Fr George Adimike, of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, took place at the Holy Trinity Church field Onitsha.
The member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon Uchenna Okonkwo, National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa and the Managing Director of Janksmay Global Services, Engr Ifeamyi Michael Onwuachu, also empowered youths with cash to uplift them.
Okonkwo empower 10 youths with N5 million, Ezeokenwa empower 5 youths with N500,000 each (N2.5m), Senator Victor Umeh empower 2 youths with (N1million), Engr Emeka Ezewonne empower two youths with N1million while Engr Ifeamyi Michael Onwuachu supported the organizing of the programme with the sum of N5 million.
# The National Human Rights Commission, in collaboration with MDAs, CSOs and NGOs, has held a pre-zonal consultative meeting with discussions channeled on the topic; “Implementation of the National Action Plan in the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Nigeria for the South East Zone”.
In an opening remark, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, Dr. Tony Ojukwu, represented by Dr. Benedict Agu, explained that the essence of the consultative forum is to work out modalities for the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Nigeria, 2024 to 2028, a document that has been put in place for ministries, departments and agencies, as well as civil societies in Nigeria, to make them understand their roles in the implementation of the document that promotes, protects and enforces the human rights of everyone in the country.
Speaking on the overall objective of the meeting, the Anambra State Coordinator, Mr. Obinna Mmaduforo, said it is to strengthen stakeholder engagement, coordination and effective implementation of the National Action Plan through inclusive consultations and alignment with one goal in mind: the promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights.
