….warns against worn-out tyres, faulty wipers
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, has urged motorists to put their vehicles in good condition before plying the roads, as the rainy season intensifies.
Anambra State’s Sector Commander of FRSC, Bridget Asekhauno, gave the advice on Wednesday in Awka.
CC. Asekhauno warned that roads become increasingly slippery during rainfall, making careful driving essential.
The FRSC boss expressed concern over continued use of worn-out tyres by some drivers, noting that such tyres lose proper grip on the road surface.
According to Asekhauno, worn-out tyres reduce effective contact with the road, increasing the risk of skidding or loss of control when brakes are applied.
She consequently, harped on the need for motorists to slow down significantly when roads are wet.
“Drivers must carry out routine vehicle checks before driving; They should regularly check their tyres, oil and water levels.
“Motorists must obey traffic rules, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and pull over safely when rainfall becomes too heavy and visibility is poor,” she said.
Asekhauno reaffirmed FRSC’s commitment to ensuring safety on Nigerian roads, especially during challenging rainy season.
