# Presidents-General of the eight towns and eleven political wards of Aguata 2 state constituency have in one accord taken a fervent decision to rally round Arc. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams, owner of OC Bravo business empire, ahead of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primary elections.

The PGs concurred that Arc. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams is the most credible option for Aguata 2 state constituency and that his antecedents and pedigree showed that he is a core grassroots person, who deploys his personal resources to uplift humanity.

Addressing the PGs in Aguluezechukwu, Arc. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams emphasized the need for a change in the way and manner Aguata-North is being represented in the state legislature.

He said that the status quo has to change because as it stands now, there is no telling that Aguata-North has a representative in the current legislature of Anambra State.

Okonkwo noted that despite being the governor’s constituency, his investigations revealed that there are no concrete projects attracted to the constituency in the last three years and that it has been a festival of remonstration throughout Aguata-North because the people are disenchanted and discontented with what they have seen in the last three years of the current representative.

# Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Architect Henry Arize, has unveiled an ambitious blueprint aimed at transforming the Ministry into a professionally managed, technology-driven, financially disciplined and citizen-focused institution in line with the Solution Agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Architect Arize while speaking with journalists shortly after his confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Soludo for finding him worthy to serve in the administration

The Commissioner described the appointment as a call to greater responsibility, dedication and selfless service to ndi Anambra. He also commended the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and members of the 8th Assembly for the confidence reposed in him through the confirmation process while noting that he was ready and prepared before begging to apply for the position of housing commissioner.

Arc. Arize noted that housing remains a critical driver of social and economic development, stressing that his administration would prioritize policies and programmes capable of delivering decent, accessible and modern housing infrastructure across the state.

He assured that under his watch, the ministry would evolve into a “fit-for-purpose” institution capable of delivering infrastructure projects with efficiency, professionalism and accountability.

# The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Commandant Maku Olatunde, has felicitated five personnel from the Command for successfully completing the Training the Trainer programme on VIP/Executive Protection and Management at the Civil Defence Academy, Sauka, Abuja.

Describing the programme as timely and strategic, during his weekly muster parade at the State Command Headquarters Awka, Commandant Maku noted that it has enhanced the officers’ capacity with advanced techniques for safeguarding dignitaries and protecting critical national infrastructure.

He praised the officers for their discipline, commitment, and dedication throughout the training, and urged them to apply the knowledge gained to improve operational effectiveness and service delivery within the Command.

The Commandant stressed that continuous training is vital to tackling evolving security threats, and reaffirmed the Corps’ dedication to professional growth and operational excellence.

He also directed the newly trained officers to cascade the training to other personnel in the Command, in order to broaden capacity and strengthen the Corps’ operational readiness across the state.

# Stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra North has continued to commend Dr. Alex Obiogbolu for his outstanding contributions to the growth, stability, and renewed strength of the party in the zone and the State in general since joining APGA.

Speaking after interactions with the Senatorial aspirant and party faithful, the stakeholders praised Obiogbolu’s leadership style, organizational capacity, and commitment to the welfare of party members and the people of Anambra State.

A senior party stakeholder in Ogbaru Local Government, Chief Paul Nwosu, stated that Obiogbolu’s contributions to APGA brought widespread jubilation because the people’s voices began to matter. His humane disposition and patient listening ear to problems or complaints and his capacity to resolve issues successfully, made him an asset to Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

Another party chieftain, Hon. Linus Ezenwamma, noted that Obiogbolu has consistently created opportunities for party members and youths through business support initiatives, employment opportunities, and educational assistance.

# The Anambra State Police Command has observed with concern an emerging pattern where some social media handlers record and circulate videos of individuals alleging police unprofessional conduct without recourse to the Command or verification of the facts, with the intent to incite members of the public against the police and other security agencies in the state.

The Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a press release, said while the Command acknowledged the right of citizens to express grievances and seek justice, the deliberate dissemination of unverified, misleading, or one-sided accounts that could cause public tension, undermine security operations, and erode confidence in security institutions, was condemnable.

# The Eastern Nigeria Merit Awards has honoured the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) with a “Special Recognition Award” for being outstanding in discharging its corporate social responsibility.

Presenting the award to the Acting Managing Director of ABS, Barrister Juliet Mbonu-Ike, during the sixth edition of its merit awards presentation held in Awka, the National Coordinator of the organisation, Prince Ikechi Okereke, described ABS as one of the conventional media outfits that has remained unshakable in the discharge of its public enlightenment service and commended the establishment for excellently discharging its corporate responsibility through fostering unity, educating citizens, facilitating development, and ensuring democratic accountability.

He explained that the Eastern Nigeria Merit Awards is designed to celebrate individuals, groups, and organisations that have contributed immensely to the standardisation of activities within the Eastern Region.

Receiving the award, the Managing Director of ABS, Barrister Mbonu-Ike, represented by the Deputy Director of Programmes and Head of Television, ABS, Mrs Ify Unachukwu, said that ABS, as a pace-setting broadcast station, supports all forms of development, noting that the award will spur the establishment to do more and become more professional in its service to humanity.

# The Anambra State Commissioner confirmed for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor, has declared his intention to move Anambra’s information management from strategic to digital communication, and to work towards recreating Onye Anambra through value and moral rebirth programs.

Mefor, who made the declaration while addressing the members of the Anambra State House of Assembly during a plenary where the commissioner nominees were confirmed on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, maintained that the ministry would develop a blueprint for value and moral rebirth of Anambra to suit the dream of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for a new Onye Anambra.

He reminded the House members of his earlier promise to move information management from basic communication to strategic communication, which was fulfilled in his first tenure.

Also in a vote of thanks on behalf of the commissioner nominees confirmed by the House of Assembly Members, Mefor commended the cordial relationship between the executive and the legislative arm of the state and assured that they would ensure that the House members will always be carried along by the state executive.

He further expressed readiness to do everything possible to make government and governance better than they would meet it.

# To strength academic excellence, student engagement and effective communication, the Department of Business Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, on Tuesday, held its first-ever interactive session with course representatives across all levels.

The session, convened by the Head of Department, Prof. Constance Ifeyinwa Okoli, provided a strategic platform for frank discussions on critical academic and administrative issues affecting students of the department.

Prof. Okoli took time to listen to concerns raised by students while offering detailed clarifications and practical solutions aimed at enhancing academic performance and ensuring a more seamless learning experience.
