Enugu Rangers have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for a record-equalling ninth time after a 2-1 victory over Ikorodu City on the final day of the season.
Captain Chidiebere Nwobodo scored in each half to secure the vital win for the Flying Antelopes at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Ikorodu City pulled one back through substitute Moses Ali in the 58th minute, but Rangers held on to finish the 2025/26 campaign with 68 points from 38 matches — one point ahead of runners-up Rivers United.
The triumph marks coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s second league title with the club and sees Rangers draw level with Enyimba as the most successful side in NPFL history.
Rangers will now represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League alongside Rivers United.
The victory sparked wild celebrations among fans, reinforcing the club’s status as one of Nigeria’s football giants.
