# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has conveyed his earnest felicitations to the entire Muslim Ummah in Anambra State and all over Nigeria on the festive occasion of Eid el Kabir.
In his goodwill message, Governor Soludo reflected that Sallah festival universally holds profound significance, reminding us of the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, and untiring commitment to divine will and the common good of humanity.
Governor Soludo urged all Muslim faithful to leverage the spiritual essence of this period to offer prayers for enduring peace, unity, and accelerated progress in our nation.
He emphasized the importance of sharing feasts, extending acts of charity, and fostering mutual tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all citizens, irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Anambra State, and to creating an environment where every citizen can celebrate in peace in this season and beyond.
In a statement signed by Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Soludo warmly wishes all Muslims happy Barka da Sallah celebrations, praying that the blessings of this season fill everyone’s homes with bliss, peace, and prosperity.
# The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Awka in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC has flagged-off the distribution of learning materials, furniture and sports equipment to the Public Primary and Junior Secondary Schools across Anambra State, Nigeria.
The items for distribution include text books, exercise books, statutory records, interactive digital boards, school bags, pens, pencils, sports equipment, marine craft, desks and chairs among others worth millions of Naira were procured by UBEC in partnership with the Anambra State government, as part of the continued efforts to support basic education development in the State.
In her welcome address, the Executive Chairman, ASUBEB, Awka, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu noted that the event was not just ceremonial, but a bold statement of the State government’s unwavering commitment to the future of Anambra children and the advancement of quality basic education in the State.
Dr. Anyadiegwu extolled Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR for his visionary leadership and passion for building a smart, prosperous, and livable homeland, which she said has continued to inspire transformative reforms across all sectors, including education.
# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has expressed optimism that with unity, prayers and collective commitment to nation building, Nigeria would continue to make progress in peace, security and sustainable development.
In his goodwill message to Muslims as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, Rt. Hon. Udeze encouraged them to renew the practice of Almsgiving, particularly to the poor and other vulnerable members of the society, as one of the fundamental principles of Islam.
The Speaker called on Nigerians irrespective of their religious inclinations to remain selfless and dedicate their lives, time and resources to the service of God and humanity, adding that Muslims and Christians should work concertedly towards the peaceful coexistence.
Rt. Hon. Udeze requested special prayers from the Muslims during this Eid-el-Kabir celebration for the peaceful conduct of the 2027 general elections, which he said, will determine the sustainability, prosperity and future of the country.
He enjoined the Muslim Community in the State to continue supporting the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in appreciation of the enabling environment he has provided for them to operate, while wishing them a fruitful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
# Lasting peace has finally returned to Eboitenani Umuoji and Mgbachu Nkpor communities in Idemili North Local Government Area following the successful resolution of a boundary dispute that lingered for nearly four decades.
The Chairman of Eboitenani Umuoji, Chief Hon. Sir Chijioke Orakwue, and the Odu Nkata Ukwu of Mgbachu Nkpor, Chief Onwukwe, in a show of commitment to peace and reconciliation, accepted and agreed to abide by the 1987 Consent Judgment, which affirmed ownership of the disputed Okofia land by Umuoji community.
The reconciliation came after four years of sustained mediation and technical engagements spearheaded by the Anambra State Boundary Committee under the leadership of the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Committee, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim.
The dispute, which bordered on the alleged encroachment on Umuoji Okofia land, had over the years generated tension between the neighbouring communities before the intervention of the State Boundary Committee.
A major milestone in the peace process was achieved recently following a series of mediation meetings facilitated by the committee’s technical team to promote dialogue, understanding, and peaceful compromise between both parties.
# The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie has flagged-off a two-day training workshop for teaching staff of the institution on digitization of students’ results.
Speaking at the ceremony, which took place at the ICT Academy building, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, the Rector explained that the training represents a strategic step towards strengthening the institution’s capacity, improving service delivery and aligning the institution with the global best practices.
Awuzie described students results’ digitization as the use of computer -based systems and digital platforms for recording, processing, retrieving, transmission and management of academic results electronically, instead of relying solely on the manual methods.
The Rector identified delays in results computation and release, calculation errors, loss of records, inefficiency in transcript processing and poor data storage and retrieval system as the major challenges associated with the traditional manual system; while stressing that digitization will address those challenges by ensuring speed, accuracy, accountability, transparency and accessibility.
# The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, CC Maku Olatunde, felicitates with Muslim faithful and children across Anambra State as they mark the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day festivities respectively.
Commandant Maku, in his message, described the celebrations as significant for both the Muslim Ummah and children in the state, urging them to celebrate in the true spirit of the festivities.
Similarly, the NSCDC State Commandant congratulated children on the occasion of Children’s Day and prayed for God’s blessings and protection over them.
While wishing Muslim faithful a spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Kabir celebration and children a memorable and joyful Children’s Day commemoration, he reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain proactive policing and partnership with citizens in maintaining peace, public safety, and security in Anambra State.
# The Traditional Ruler of Awka Community, Obi Dr. Gibson Nwosu, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts aimed at transforming Awka into a befitting capital city.
Speaking at his palace after receiving Soludo during a solidarity visit for this year’s Egwu Imoka Festival, Obi Nwosu expressed gratitude to the governor for his love for Awka Community in view of the series of infrastructural developments being put in place in the community.
The Monarch stated that Soludo is the first sitting governor to pay him a solidarity visit during the Imoka Festival, which is the highest traditional festival in Awka Community, and reassured him of the full support and loyalty of the people of Awka to his administration.
Igwe Nwosu, said that the new ultra-modern Government House and Lodge in Awka, the Solution Fun City, the Ikenga Shopping Mall, and the series of quality road infrastructure projects have brought the ancient city of Awka to the limelight as a state capital, and urged youths of Awka extraction to be at the forefront of safeguarding those projects.
# Anambra First lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo has promised to support and encourage individuals in the State desirous of owning household garden or embrace subsistence farming with 5,000 packs of Hybrid Non-GMO seeds.
Soludo’s wife who made the pledge on Friday, said the seeds would assist individuals and families grow organic and healthy foods right from their homes and communities.
The First lady listed content of each of the carefully selected seeds to include corn, green vegetables, cabbage, pepper, tomatoes and okra.
According to her, embracing home gardening is not only a step towards healthy living, but also a practical pathway to food sufficiency and economic support for every household.
# Residents of Ogidi community in Idemili North Local Government Area, have intensified calls for urgent intervention over persistent flooding that continues to disrupt daily life, damage property, and stall economic activities across the area.
The situation has drawn concern from youths, traditional leadership, and community stakeholders who describe the impact as increasingly severe.
During a peaceful public appeal, youths of the community highlighted the worsening condition of roads, homes, farmlands, and business areas during rainfall periods.
The youths held placards reflecting concerns over the survival of the community, the safety of children, and the need for urgent action to prevent further environmental destruction.
The President of Ogidi Youths, Hon. Chris Obi-Okafor, led the appeal, stressing that the community is facing a serious humanitarian challenge caused by recurring flood incidents, and explained that farmlands and economic trees have been destroyed, businesses are collapsing, and movement within the community has become difficult due to submerged roads.
Obi-Okafor further noted that the education of children is being disrupted as flooding prevents school attendance during rainfall periods, raising fears about the long-term impact on the community’s future development, and called on both the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Anambra State Government led by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to urgently intervene and provide lasting solutions.
# The administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has intensified efforts to reduce plastic pollution, strengthen waste management and promote environmental sustainability across Anambra State.
One of the key initiatives introduced by the state government is the Plastic Waste Recovery Challenge, implemented through the Ministry of Environment and the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), encouraging residents and communities to collect, sort, and recycle plastic waste instead of dumping or burning it indiscriminately. Beyond protecting the environment, the initiative is also aimed at creating economic opportunities through recycling and waste recovery activities.
As part of broader environmental reforms, the government has commenced measures to phase out single-use plastics while promoting the use of biodegradable alternatives. Authorities have also stepped up enforcement against indiscriminate refuse disposal, open burning of plastics, and other unhealthy environmental practices linked to flooding, erosion, and pollution.
Another major milestone is the enactment and implementation of the Environmental Management, Protection and Administration Law, 2024. The law provides a stronger legal framework for environmental sanitation, waste control, pollution management, and public participation in environmental protection efforts. It also empowers agencies such as ASWAMA and the OCHA Brigade to improve enforcement and maintain cleaner communities across the state.
