English winger Anthony Gordon has completed his move to Barcelona after the La Liga champions sealed a transfer agreement with Newcastle United on Friday.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal, describing it as done. The 25-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Catalan club later on Friday after successfully passing a medical examination on Thursday.
The transfer is understood to be worth around €80 million including add-ons, with a sell-on clause included in favour of Newcastle.
Gordon flew to Barcelona on Thursday with his representatives to finalise the move. Barcelona beat off competition from several clubs, including Bayern Munich, to secure his signature.
The former Everton academy product joined Newcastle in 2022 and established himself as a key player under Eddie Howe, earning regular England caps with his pace, direct running and versatility.
His attributes are said to have particularly appealed to Barcelona coach Hansi Flick as the club seeks to inject more energy into its attacking options ahead of the new season and the Club World Cup.
The sale represents a significant profit for Newcastle, who signed Gordon for around £45 million four years ago. Gordon is expected to be officially unveiled by Barcelona in the coming days.
