Tinubu Mourns Slain Oyo Teacher, Pledges Rescue of Abducted Pupils

President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to the family of a teacher killed during a school kidnapping in Oyo State and vowed to use every available means to secure the safe return of abducted students and teachers.

In a statement issued on Monday, Tinubu condemned the May 15 attack on communities in Esiele and Yawota in Oriire Local Government Area, where bandits killed one person and took many others hostage.

“No child should be taken from the safety of a classroom. No parent should have to go through this kind of suffering,” the president said.1105ae

He offered special condolences to the family of Mrs. Mary Oyedokun, whose husband Michael was reportedly beheaded in the incident.

“I also send my heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Mary Oyedokun’s family. Her sacrifice will not be forgotten, and we will support her family,” Tinubu stated.93bbde

The president said rescue operations would be intelligence-driven, well-coordinated and sustained.

“Our rescue efforts will be guided by intelligence, carefully planned, coordinated, and ongoing. We will use every legal method available, both active and supportive, to make sure our children and teachers come home safely,” he added.

He confirmed the deployment of a specialised security team with advanced rescue capabilities and the mobilisation of 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State government. Authorities are also considering the establishment of a military base in the affected area.

A high-level federal delegation, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, has visited the communities.
