Ivy Ifeoma Okoye, wife of Nigerian singer Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), has revealed she was financially independent and already a millionaire before meeting her husband, pushing back against claims she married for money.
In a video posted on her TikTok page, Ifeoma advised single women against making marriage to a wealthy man their primary goal, stressing the importance of building personal financial stability.
“This is my take on the idea of marrying a rich man and before you come for me, know that I was a millionaire before I met this man [Paul Okoye],” she said.
She argued that while marrying into wealth can open opportunities, women should focus on becoming rich themselves.
“Marrying a rich man should not be anybody’s primary goal. Why would you even want to have a primary goal of marrying someone because they are rich? At the end of the day, it is their money, not your money,” Ifeoma stated.
“Don’t get me wrong, marrying rich is a very good add-on because it can open doors of opportunities for you. But what I will tell you to do as a woman is to get rich,” she added.
The mother of two, who is significantly younger than her husband, urged women to be ambitious and industrious, noting that wealthy individuals are often attracted to self-made partners.
Her comments have sparked discussions online about financial independence in relationships.
