Al Nassr in Financial Crisis as Ronaldo’s Club Halts Transfers, Delays Salaries

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi club Al Nassr is facing a severe financial crisis, leading to salary delays for players and a ban on new transfers, according to local media reports.

The club, which Ronaldo joined in 2023, is struggling with debts exceeding revenues despite heavy investment in recent years. Several first-team players reportedly received June salaries in instalments, while transfer activity has stalled, including plans to replace midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

The situation comes despite Ronaldo’s lucrative deal reportedly worth around £488,000 per day, with one year remaining. Earlier this year, the Portuguese star went on strike over perceived lack of investment before returning after demands were met.

Al Nassr recently appointed Ange Postecoglou as coach following their Saudi Pro League title win, but the financial constraints could hinder squad strengthening ahead of the new season. The club has not yet submitted documents proving financial capacity for new contracts, sources said.
