Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, was disqualified from his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha on Friday after walking out of the ring before the end of the first round.
The bout, billed as “Unfinished Business,” took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre inside the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos. It was staged as a rematch of their earlier controversial encounter, which Okocha had argued was unfairly awarded to the musician.
Portable appeared to hold the early advantage before the fight turned into a chaotic scuffle resembling wrestling. The referee struggled to separate the pair, and the bell eventually sounded to end the round as security personnel and bodyguards moved in to restore order.
Amid the disorder, Portable left the ring, prompting boos from the crowd, including spectators in the VIP section. Although he was later persuaded to return, officials disqualified him and awarded the victory to Okocha.
Speaking backstage before the fight while holding his son, Portable said: “I am not happy, but I want God to make me happy and my family.”
The result reversed the outcome of their first meeting, which Portable had won. He had also claimed during the final weigh-in that he remained the superior fighter.
