Nigerian-born wrestler Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE SummerSlam 2026, becoming the first competitor to beat the former champion inside the steel structure.
The hard-fought contest featured repeated high-impact exchanges before Femi secured the victory with his Fall From Grace finishing move. After the bout, Lesnar raised Femi’s hand and described him as “the future of WWE,” in a gesture widely seen as a symbolic transfer of recognition from one of the promotion’s biggest stars.
Oba Femi Pays Tribute To Brock Lesnar
Following their violent “Hell in a Cell” match at WWE SummerSlam, Oba Femi seemingly sent Brock Lesnar into retirement (again).
Afterward, he paid tribute to the “Beast Incarnate” during the SummerSlam post-show. Femi wished him well in whatever is next.
“We all know Brock is a beast — he presents as a beast. He’s a monster; he’s been dominant for 25 years. But amongst all that, he might be superhuman, but he is still very much human,” Femi praised. “He’s a human being, he’s a man, he’s a father, he’s an athlete, he has feelings as well. So, to Brock, I wish you all the best. I really do.
“Go hunting, do what you do, go be a father, go be a human being. You’ve earned this in the ring, in the cage, everything you’ve done. You’re the best. You’re one of the greatest minds of professional wrestling. And I hope when all this is said and done, everybody knows that,” he continued.
The result marks a significant milestone in Femi’s rapid ascent within WWE and reinforces his standing among the company’s leading young talents. Wrestling observers and former performers have characterised the performance as a career-defining moment for the Nigerian star.
