Singer Davido has rejected claims that he brought artistes and influencers to mobilise support for his uncle’s successful re-election bid in Osun State.
The Afrobeats star responded on Monday to an opinion article by All Progressives Congress National Youth Leader Dayo Israel.
In the piece titled “Osun has spoken: The bitter truth APC must hear before 2027,” Israel described Davido as a central figure in youth mobilisation for the governorship poll.
“Davido did not treat his role as symbolic. He was placed at the centre of youth mobilisation and used his influence, networks, music, digital reach and personal credibility to connect the campaign to a generation. He brought artistes, influencers and young voices into the process,” Israel wrote.
Davido denied the assertion in a post on X.
“I brought no one! No one defended me! I backed my family on my own!! You guys r ruthless n disgusting! Eeewwww! I have done my job! Nigerian politics is evil AND I DONT WANT TO BE A PART OF IT TILL GOD HELPS US!” he said.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party was declared winner of Saturday’s election, defeating the APC candidate.
