Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded the modified logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and updated the party’s leadership details on its website, complying with a Federal High Court order.
The commission now lists Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as National Chairman, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekwelzu as National Secretary, Mr John Odey as National Treasurer, Hon Mainasara Abubakar Sani as National Financial Secretary and Barrister Reuben Egwuaba as National Legal Adviser. Each position is marked as updated “by court order.”
The action follows a judgment delivered on Tuesday by Justice J. O. Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja in a suit filed by the NDC against INEC.
The court ruled that INEC’s earlier refusal to recognise the party’s modified logo was unconstitutional, illegal and an infringement of the NDC’s rights.
Justice Abdulmalik ordered INEC to “forthwith approve the modified logo design of the Plaintiff, including its symbol and colours,” for use in all political activities and elections.
The approved logo is a digitally designed “Two fingers victory sign” with a blue background and the word “NDC” written in red, adopted at the party’s first National Executive Committee meeting on March 25, 2026.
NDC founder Henry Seriake Dickson welcomed the ruling, saying the party had earlier submitted the modified logo after its NEC meeting but INEC later removed it without explanation.
“However, without any reason communicated to us, INEC later removed the modified logo and insisted on using the old logo of the association, a position we disagreed with,” Dickson said.
He added that the party was compelled to seek judicial intervention after giving INEC sufficient time to act.
“We therefore commend the judiciary for its timely intervention and welcome the judgment directing INEC to forthwith upload and utilise our modified digital logo,” he stated.
Dickson urged party candidates and members to immediately adopt the approved logo on all campaign materials.
“We urge all candidates and party members to forthwith adopt and utilise the approved logo in all campaign materials, including banners, posters and other publicity materials,” he said.
He also reassured members that the party had capable leaders to manage the situation.
“I want to assure everyone that the party has experienced and strategic leaders who understand what we are doing. Therefore, nobody should panic,” Dickson said.
