Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, said Wednesday he remains open to a coalition with any political party committed to fixing Nigeria, but stressed that any such alliance must be arranged between parties and not by individual politicians.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on ARISE News about possible opposition cooperation ahead of the 2027 general election, the former Anambra State governor said his offer to Nigerians centres on creating a functional country.
“What I am offering to Nigerians is a Nigeria that works,” Obi said.
He added that the door is open to partnerships with parties that genuinely seek to tackle the nation’s problems and improve citizens’ lives.
However, Obi ruled out any arrangement in which individuals negotiate or join a coalition outside their party structures.
“Coalition must come through the party as a body and not my personal decision. This is one of the things I want to change in Nigeria,” he stated.
Obi’s comments come amid ongoing talks among opposition figures and parties over potential alliances for the next presidential election.
