The Obidient and Kwankwasiyya, OK Movement, a platform to mobilise support for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has inaugurated its presidential campaign council for the 2027 general elections.
Saadatu Sani, the national secretary of the movement, in a congratulatory message to members of the newly constituted council on Thursday in Abuja, charged members to take its message to Nigerians across the country.
Ms Sani said the appointments represented a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service, urging members to approach their responsibilities with discipline, loyalty, humility and courage.
She said the council had been entrusted with taking the vision and aspirations of the movement’s principals from the cities to grassroots across the federation.
According to her, the movement is focused on mobilising Nigerians around its vision of a better, prosperous, united and functional Nigeria.
She urged members to work collectively, stressing that the assignment would require strategic thinking, effective communication, grassroots mobilisation and coordination across states and local government areas
Ms Sani said the movement’s responsibility was to ensure that its message reached Nigerians nationwide while creating platforms for citizens to express their views.
She congratulated the council members and reminded them that their appointments were not only an honour but also a responsibility to the movement and the country.
John Ughulu heads the campaign council as director-general, while Ms Sani serves as national secretary.
The council also has coordinators for the six geopolitical zones, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the 36 states.
Suleiman Abubakar is the North Central coordinator, while Hashimu Dungurawa, Amadu Gwambe, Adebayo Adefolaseye, Christopher Ighodaro, and El-shaddai Ikeh coordinate the North West, North East, South West, South South, and South East, respectively.
Other members were appointed to head various directorates, including grassroots mobilisation, women’s affairs, contact and engagement, strategy and planning, information technology, legal affairs, security and intelligence, and administration.
She said the council would work to translate its political message into grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
She also urged all members to demonstrate unity and commitment as the campaign activities progressed.
