Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike on Wednesday vowed to step down from his post if President Bola Tinubu loses either the Federal Capital Territory or Rivers State in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike made the commitment while receiving members of the Association of Apo Mechanic Village, who sought the FCT Administration’s help over plans to relocate their workshop.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory in both the capital territory and Rivers State, stating he was prepared to put his ministerial position on the line.
Wike has consistently indicated that his main political priority ahead of the 2027 poll is to rally support for the president in the FCT and Rivers. He recently declared his intention to head Tinubu’s campaign structures in the two areas.
Addressing the mechanics’ concerns, the minister assured them that the FCT Administration would consult relevant stakeholders to reach a practical solution that would avoid disrupting their businesses and livelihoods.
The Apo group had approached Wike to request government intervention to protect their economic activities from the proposed relocation.
