The plenary started with an opening prayer led by the speaker honorable Uche Okafor, he welcomed everyone present.
The votes and proceedings of the last sitting was checked, carried and signed.
Honorable Douglas Nwachukwu Egbuna member representing Onitsha North 1 constituency in the plenary today announced his defection from All Progressive Congress APC party to People’s Democratic Party PDP for reasons he wish not to share.
Honorable John Nwokoye member representing Awka North constituency also defected to PDP for reasons he withheld from the public.
He expressed that for reasons best known to him, he is no longer in APGA party or APC party but now a member of the PDP.
The minority leader honorable Onyebuchi Augustine Offor member representing Ekwusigo constituency expressed his happiness that as a shepherd, he is very happy that all the lost sheep are back to the fold.
Meanwhile Anambra Assembly considered the report of the house Committee on screening and election matter’s on the commissioner nominee, Barr; Ezeokenwa Sylvester Ifebuche as a commissioner in the government of Anambra State.
Honorable Paschal Agbodike chairman house Committee on screening and election matter’s reported that the committee invited the nominee and had an interactive session with him.
He stressed that question relating to his personality, previous Job experience, prospective post and other matters related to special duties were posed on him and he answered rightly.
The committee observed that the answers profiled by the nominee were highly satisfactory.
The nominee was adjudged suitable, qualified to serve as a commissioner in the government of Anambra State.
The committee recommended that Barr; Ezeokenwa Sylvester Ifebuche be confirmed by Anambra Assembly as commissioner for special duties as nominated by the governor.
Honorable Pete Chima Ibida member representing Njikoka 2 constituency said in view of the fact that the report is professionally done, especially headed by right honorable Paschal Agbodike chairman of house Committee on screening and election matter’s.
He thereby moved a motion and said since there is no any anomaly in the report and since is it is in favour of the nominee, that he should be confirmed.
Honorable Chidi Udemmadu member representing Ihiala 2 constituency seconded the motion moved by honorable Pete Chima Ibida.
Anambra Assembly resolved and confirmed that Barr; Ezeokenwa Sylvester Ifebuche be made commissioner for special duties in Anambra State.
Honorable Uzoma Eli Innocent member representing Onitsha south 1 constituency moved a motion that the house be adjourned to Tuesday 26th of April 2022.
Honorable Onyebuchi Augustine Offor member representing Ekwusigo constituency seconded the motion and also commended the governor Prof Charles Soludo for taking the bull by the horn, for assembling security personnel in most strategic places in Anambra State and the victory in smoking out camps of the unknown gunmen.
The speaker Uche Okafor wished everyone happy Easter in advance and bring to public notice that the reason for the two weeks adjournment was because of Easter break.
