I know you’re wondering what a sponge cake is right now. But don’t panic, we will put you through the steps to take to get there stay turned and read to the end. Here’s all you need to know about making a deliciously excellent and Irresistible vanilla sponge cake! Let’s get the ball rolling! For an 8-inch cake, we need the following:
Materials needed:
- A bowl
- Turning stick
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Whisk
- 2 (8”) baking pan
Ingredients Needed:
250gm of Margarine (Butter)
1 ½ cups of sugar
5 cups of flour
1TBS of Vanilla flavor
1tsp of Milk Flavour
8-10 eggs depending on the size
3tbs baking powder
½ Tsp. of baking soda
1/8 cup of alcohol (this serves as a preservative)
Nutmeg (optional)
Procedure:
- Put the butter and the sugar in the bowl and cream (stir) until the mixture becomes semi-solid (i.e. the color of the butter will turn whitish) and set it aside.
- Get another dry bowl and sieve the flour inside it, put the baking powder, baking soda, mix it properly and set aside.
- Get another bowl, break the eggs inside it and whisk it properly until the egg becomes fluffy (i.e. when you raise the whisk, you’ll notice that the egg is very light)
Now we are almost there, just a set away!
Now it’s time to put all our ingredients together.
- To the creamed butter and sugar, add the flavours, some of the whisked egg and turn, and add the flour mixture and keep turning. Repeat the process simultaneously until the whole ingredients are exhausted, then add about ¼ cup of water (note: the little water helps it to get more spongy) then add the alcohol.
- Put on your oven to heat up and then you grease the pan with butter and sprinkle some little flour on the pan.
- Pour the cake mixture into the two greased pan
- Put them in the oven and bake for about 30-35minutes
- Before putting the cake down, take a spoon or knife or clean stick and dip it into the baked cake, if the batter sticks to the object then allow it to bake some more to dry up.
