Student expelled for forcing junior to drink poisoned garri in Ebonyi

Senior Secondary School 11 student of Government Secondary School Afikpo, Ebonyi State, has been expelled from the school for allegedly forcing a JSS 1 student, (name withheld) to drink garri poisoned with bleach.

It was gathered that the incident nearly took the life of the victim but for the prompt intervention of the school authority. A teacher in the school who pleaded anonymity said the suspect after committing the act, wanted to smuggle the victim out of the school at night but was caught.

 The father of the victim, Mr. Emmanuel Onwe, said the incident threw his family into turmoil.

 The Principal of the School Mr. Ogbonnia Nwachi, when contacted confirmed the expulsion of the suspect from the school.

He denied plots to readmit the suspect I to the school.

“Nobody is putting pressure on him to be returned. We have resolved that the boy remains expelled. We are proactive. As I have always advised them, because I hold regular meetings with them: be kind with one another, as no one knows tomorrow.

 “The person you are maltreating today because you are his senior could be the person that will help you tomorrow,” he said.
