The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has urged Nigerians to get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and maintain all non-pharmaceutical preventive measures to prevent a fourth wave of the pandemic in the country as cases are surging in other countries.
He gave the advice yesterday in Abuja during the update on the COVID-19 pandemic response and development in the health sector organised by the Federal Ministry of Health and other partners.
The Director General of the NCDC, Dr Ifedayo Adetifa, said as of January 8, over 663 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and over 6.7 million deaths had been reported globally.
He added that three million new cases and 10, 000 deaths had been reported between December 26, 2022 and January 1, 2023.
