Gov Ortom’s Convoy Involved In Accident

Several persons were injured on Friday morning following an accident involving some vehicles in Governor Samuel Ortom’s convoy in Benue State. 

Ortom and his entourage were headed to Igumale, the headquarters of Ado Local Government Area for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign when the incident happened at Utokon community in Ado Local Government Area.

Our correspondent reports that the accident occurred when the driver of an inscribed bus with candidates’ posters and loaded with PDP supporters lost control and rammed into a jeep, a security vehicle and another bus in the convoy.

Those in the motorcade include the state’s deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu; Senator Abba Moro; House of Representatives and House of Assembly members from Benue South district, among other top government and party officials in the state.

Meanwhile, the state government ambulance in the convoy immediately evacuated the injured to the hospital.

Similarly, Ortom has sympathised with those injured in the accident. Among them were three lawmakers, including the member representing Guma State Constituency, William Ortyom, and that of Gwer-East State Constituency, Geoffrey Agbatse, and the member for Kwande West State Constituency, Sugh Abanyi.


Ortom, who described the accident as unfortunate, expressed appreciation to God that it was not fatal and no casualty was recorded.
