* Anambra state government has urged the people of Anambra West Local Government Area to help the contractor handling the Mmiata-Anam-Nzam road complete the job on specification. The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma stated this soon after a closed-door meeting with stakeholders from the area in his office in Awka. According to Engineer Okoma, the Mmiata-Anam-Nzam road would be among the sixty kilometers road to be commissioned by Governor Chukwuma Soludo within his first one year in office.
* Ahead of the 2023 general election, Igbo socio-political and cultural group, Ndi Igbo Royal Heritage (NIROH) worldwide, has called on Ndigbo in Southeast and Nigeria at large to unite and seek a different approach to politics instead of dwelling on complaints and lamentations. The group made the call recently, during Igbo Unity Day Celebration themed: ‘The Unification Of The Igbo Nation.” The event held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square Awka, Anambra State capital.
* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has all it takes to take Anambra State to the Promised Land.
Mr. Onuko who made this assertion while inspecting the ongoing road projects in Awka, said that the governor has indeed proven that Ndi Anambra did not make a mistake by electing him
* The administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo who is determined to provide ndi Anambra with affordable and efficient healthcare system devoid of quackery and unwholesome attitudes has commenced inspection of Private and Public hospitals across the state. Anambra State Ministry of Health with the objective of closing down any hospital that fails to meet the stipulated standards kicked off inspection in Awka. The inspecting team was led by the Head of Medical Services from the state ministry of health, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu.
* In a bid to recognise Very Important Persons (VIPs) in the state, Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has begun what could be called a Hall of Fame for such people with graphic representations of their images( pictures) on the three major flyovers in Awka, the state capital. Prominent amongst those so recognised ,include the late Dr Nnamdi Azikwe ( Zik), late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, late former Vice President of Nigeria. Also so recognised are former governors of the state with the omission of the first executive governor of the state Dr. Clement Chinwoke Mbadinuju
* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Victor Ike Oye says APGA will win across Nigeria in the forthcoming national elections.
Oye, who said that God is in control of the party, noted that the party is growing from strength to strength, that irrespective of the designs of malignant elements, the party has continued to forge ahead. Oye, who spoke recently at the flag-off of national campaigns for the party, noted that it is incontestable that APGA has come to stay
* Anambra-based medical doctor, Dr. Walter Igbokwe has been accused of allegedly dragging a woman named Chukwuka to a deity known as Omaliko Idemili over an unpaid hospital bill of N600,000 in the State.
It was gathered that the hospital bill was for the woman’s late mum, who passed on after being discharged from Dr Walter Igbokwe’s hospital in Anambra state. The said woman, who is a teacher claimed that she signed an agreement with the medical doctor under duress in order to be able to take her mother to another hospital for further treatment.
* It was an entertaining game at the Awka city stadium on Sunday as Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars of Akure settle for a 1:1 draw in the match-day three game of the Nigeria Professional Football League. ANN reports that Enugu Rangers are currently 9th at the table with one point from three games (lost 2 and draw 1) while Sunshine Stars are 8th with three points (3 draws).
* An Igbo socio-political group, Ndi Igbo Royal Heritage (NIROH) worldwide has joined eminent citizens in Igboland in condemning the role played by traditional rulers in Anambra State during the visit of Atiku Abubakar to Anambra State, recently. On December 15, Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential candidate in the forthcoming general election, met with the Anambra traditional council at the government house in Awka, the state capital.
The meeting, it was widely reported, was part of the PDP candidate’s nationwide consultation and a kick-off of the party’s campaign in the state.
