* The Deputy Governor of Anambra State Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has cautioned youths against engaging in evil practices. The Deputy Governor gave the advise during the dedication of Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church Ifite-Ani Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area. Dr Ibezim, who described youths as the hope of any society, stressed the need for them to eschew evil, in order to save themselves from destruction.
* Bishop on the Niger, (Anglican Communion), Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo, has cautioned politicians and their supporters against any form of bullying and political rascality. He advised politicians to play the game of politics according to its rules rather than recriminating one another, saying that Nigerians looked onto them to exhibit some level of maturity expected of people aspiring to be leaders.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu has decried deplorable condition and unhygienic nature of some Abattoirs in the state.
Odimegwu who gave the warning during a meeting of all abattoir operators in the State at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, warned operators that their licenses would be revoked if they did not turn a new leaf.
* The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance for the Anambra North Senatorial election, Chief Dr. (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme), has been endorsed by all political appointees that served under the administration of His Excellency the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike Global). The group during a townhall meeting with Mrs Obiano and her husband, the former Governor of Anambra State, expressed their indebtedness to Chief Willie Obiano whom they described as the man with a heart of Gold.
* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has consoled the family and the people of Ufuma over the death of Late Mr. Sylvester Ashiegbu, the father of the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo. Late Mr. Ashiegbu a native of Umuogem village Ufuma in Orumba North Local Government Area, died at the age of ninety one.
* The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has demanded the immediate replacement of a new bus supplied to the agency by Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Company Limited. The demand was made in a letter the agency despatched to Innoson even as it expressed regrets over the patronage of Made-in-Nigeria vehicles.
* Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK High School, Awka, Anambra State has emerged best in the just concluded quiz competition on Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry organized by the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE). Master Okoli- Joshua Uchenna who represented the School in the keenly contested competition came first to beat his rivals from Marist Comprehensive Secondary School Nteje, Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Awka and Comprehensive Science and Technical college, Nawfia.
* The twenty-third Annual International Conference and General Meeting (AGM) of the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE), Nigeria commences today, Tuesday 24th January, 2023 at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. The conference tagged: ACCE-UNIZIK 2023 is holding at the ASUU Secretariat of UNIZIK, Awka with the theme: “Communicating Science, Technology, and Innovation in Times of Economic Distress, Terror and Pandemic”.
* Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor called on Nigerians especially Christians to endeavour to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and get ready to vote for right candidates in next month’s general election to enthrone good governance and save their children untold hardship and sufferings in the country.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor who decried the daily deterioration of all sectors of the Nation’s economy, said it is high time all eligible voters in Nigeria speak with one voice through massive votes for candidates who have through one way or the other proven their mettle in community, State and national levels.
