* The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has called on local government and community leaders to monitor the activities of contractors handling all road projects across the state to ensure delivery of quality works. Deputy Governor Ibezim made the call recently in a meeting with local government and community leaders in the state at the government house, Awka.
* Communities in Anambra State have been urged to support the new land administration policy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s government. Speaking in Awka, the Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene said the reformation would strengthen land use and management. Chief Okeke regretted that many youths in Anambra State and Igboland are today involved in selling of their inheritance and birthright without considering the future consequences on the families and future generations, noting that they were able to inherit the land because their fathers and forefathers made conscious efforts and sacrifices to protect and preserve them.

* Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko has explained the reasons behind the proposed demolition by the Anambra State government. According to Onuko, the demolition is to expand and make the road a dual-carriage road; and not to cause any form of hardship to people as many erroneously think or peddle. He revealed that the decision is in line with the government’s resolve to give Awka a befitting status of a capital city.
* As part of efforts to ensure timely and regular payment of taxes, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, has unveiled a Special Enforcement Team, known as SET. Unveiling the enforcement team at the agency’s corporate headquarters in Awka, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Comrade Celestine Anere, revealed that the move was in line with Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of riding the state of touts and illegal revenue collectors to ensure that citizens and organizations pay their taxes as and when due.
*Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu says the Anambra State Government’s intensified war against touts in the State is aimed at restoring freedom to motorists and other commuters.
He said to underscore the seriousness government attaches to the ban on touting, a set of Hotlines have been specifically created for the public to call anytime and anywhere touts are found to be in operation in Anambra State. * Fire outbreak has gutted the popular and ever-busy Ezenwa Plaza in Eke Awka Market, Anambra State. According to an eyewitness, the fire which started in one of the phone shops in the plaza, was caused by electrical fault and spark. He said the fire could not cause much damages in the plaza, as the passers-by who noticed the smoke and flames oozing out from the shop immediately alerted the officials of the State Fire Service, who also stormed the scene and battled the fire to a stop.
* The member representing Orumba South Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Emma Nwafor has called on his constituents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to be able to participate in the 2023 general elections. The legislator urged eligible voters not to sit on the fence; but to participate actively in the nation’s electoral process in order to elect credible leaders into offices in the coming 2023 general elections
* Anambra state government has commenced three days intensive training for youths on digital skills in Awka, the Anambra State capital. ANN reports that the state government, through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha, is partnering the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, to host the skill acquisition programme tagged “NITDA Digital Economy and Employability Programme, DEEP”, and aimed at exposing the youths of Anambra State to the opportunities in digital skills and ICT.
* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has been urged to declare work free days to enable registered voters to go out and collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
